Don's passing makes me think about how long some of us have been here on ET and some of the truly great threads over the years. My condolences to his family.
Meet him many back in the day in the late 90's trading out of one of their former South Florida offices. He fits the expression exactly - "never met a person that had a bad thing to say about him." RIP
That's too bad. Seemed like a great guy. Never got to meet him but heard only good things about the guy. Always was a straight shooter on here.
As the days go by we recall even more of the countless things that Don Bright did as a Director for Bright Trading, LLC, itself, as well as for hundreds of us individually, be it hands-on teaching of trading specifics, words of encouragement, even at times some necessary admonishment, in addition to the thousands of posts he tirelessly submitted over the years to help thousands others here on EliteTrader.com (although more than a few of those posts were couched in a mind-numbing disambiguation due to in-house CEO brother Bob's and compliance officer oversight). Thank you, Don! There is now a void in our personal and trading lives; Don Bright will be missed. Here is Don's obituary: DONALD BRIGHT Donald Ray Bright, age 65, passed away Aug. 25, 2015. He was born Feb. 14, 1950, in Long Beach, Calif., the son of late Raymond and Estelle Bright, the youngest of three brothers. Don graduated from the California College of Commerce in the early 1970's with a degree in accounting. He worked as an accountant for a few years, then, in 1979, he joined the Pacific Stock Exchange. In the late 1980's, he went on to become a pioneer in the electric car business and, in 1996, he joined his brother's professional stock trading firm, Bright Trading, where he filled many key positions since then. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry. He is survived by his wife, of 23 years, Gina; his son, Geoff; daughter-in-law, April; grandchildren, Abbey, Hailey, Ethan, Harlie and Hunter; brother, Bob; sister-in-law, Pam; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a private memorial service in his honor Sunday, Sept. 27. R.I.P. Don. My most sincere condolences to his family. I was at Bright for a short bit in 2003 and Don was a great help and always encouraging to us "beginners". It was great to read his posts here and his column in S&C, knowing I knew him and learned from him first hand. A sad day indeed.
