QuoteTracker To Be Finished End of 2011

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by garbar, Jan 12, 2011.

  1. X5, by far the most common reason is that there are two datafeeds getting data on the same symbol. If I remember correctly, you had an issue with bid/ask that I also indicated was caused by multiple datafeeds.

Look on the status bar. It will show you all the datafeeds that are connected.

NOTE: TD Ameritrade STREAMER and TD Ameritrade Snapshot are considered two different datafeeds

Haha you're right! I had both the snapshot and the streamer getting L1 quotes on accident!

However, the market is closed atm so I will have to test it out in the morning to make sure it works (im sure it will)

    Thank you so much!

I've been doing so playing around with it, somehow it looks like the bid/ask data problem *may* have been fixed... which is odd since I only turned on the snapshot data feed this morning and then re-turned it off when you asked me... I'll have to see tomorrow.

Also Jerry, I'm preparing to go off to school soon and I will have to leave my desktop computer at home... do you know which files I should copy from the Quotetracker directory I have on my desktop computer over onto my laptop to preserve my watchlists, chart settings, trendlines, etc.?

X5, go to www.quotetracker.com/faq.shtml. The sixth question from the bottom answers your question ("I want to copy or backup my portfolios and settings. What do I do?"). I find the second half of the answer the easiest...just copying the listed files.

    Jerry,

it doesn't look like i was able to resolve my problem with the level I quotes and the volume feed (negative volume is still showing up, even though there's only one Level I datafeed.)

Looking at the raw data however, it appears that each trade is duplicated a total of 4 times (i.e. there will be 4 trades executed at the same price with nearly identical sizes and at virtually the same time)... dont know if this is how trade sizes are executed or if im getting data from 4 places.

Is also says "Level I Subs: 70" which means i have 70 subscriptions to level I quotes? I have no idea.

Funny thing is, if I click "stop quotes" my "Level I Subs" goes down to 1, which I think is from the level 2 quote window.

if i delete the level II window, the level I subs # goes to 69... so yea

Any idea? The only level I quote source it says I'm using is the TDA streamer, no snapshot or anything

  6. 4 trades, same size - that is backfill data. QT takes 1 minute data and splits it into 4 records in the Raw Data window, so that the OHLC values will show up on the chart. You cannot look at that as if it is real T&S data. If you want real T&S data, then it has to be gathered from the Level I quotes and you would want to turn on Tick by Tick data option for the Level I quotes.

As for negative values, try switching servers

Alright, it looks like I am no longer getting negative volume from the streaming quote source for larger stocks like BAC and COST, but I'm still getting some negative volume for the penny stocks im using...

Also, I'm getting some negative volume data here and there when I backfill with the TD ameritrade backfill but for most of them it looks ok... i'm guessing its typical to get negative volume sporadically like that anyway.

Since BAC and COST seem to have no negative volume whatsoever when I look at them i think this is just a problem of not enough data coverage of the penny stocks I'm using, so perhaps quotes that are coming in later may contradict earlier data causing the negative volume?

    Hi Jerry,

I was struggling with the 3.9.8a patch install. So I finally backed up the user-configuration files (e.g.: portfolio, screen view, etc.) and uninstalled QT. Next, I downloaded the current version from the web (www.quotetracker.com), then dowloaded the patch for ver 3.9.8a and applied the patch.

I relaunched QT and loaded my original portfolio files.

Everything seems to work well, including getting proper backfill data, and the "About Quotetracker" does display version 3.9.8a. HOWEVER: everytime I edit the portfolio and click OK, I get 2 pop-up windows asking me to register the software. I simply kill these windows, but it is very difficult to have to deal with these EVERY TIME I edit the portfolio.

I am not sure why I am getting these pop-up windows. There are no ads on the screen, and otherwise it does behave like it is a registered version. I have TD Ameritrade (streaming, customers only) as the source of quotes, news, etc. which all works fine as I have input the TDA account details in QT.

Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it? Thank you so much for your help.

  10. sadana, not aware of any popups. What is the exact text of those windows? (including the message caption)
