And fishing for new clients, they conveniently omit to tell them that they'll not effectively support the QT anymore:
Cute. though ineffective since anyone using QT that needs backfill would be using the patched version, which would not have any such deadline for non-TDA clients
Hi Jerry! I've been using quotetracker for about a year now (since I began my ventures with stocks) and I think it is extremely intuitive and much better than any other platform I've tried... it is an amazing platform and I really can't believe TDA is going to cut its support from it in order to advocate their TOS platform. Anyway I really don't want to stop using quotetracker anytime soon but... I am having a little problem with the bid/ask data... I have tried emailing QT support about it but they don't really know what to do about it. Just for some background info to the problem, I have multiple windows open including 3 charts, news, level 2 and raw bid/ask data and they are all synced to the red push pin. Anyway, the bid ask data for a stock will display just fine on the portfolio window until I click on it with the red push pin in order to make all the charts and news windows etc. change to reflect that symbol's information. As soon as I click on it, the bid and ask data on the portfolio window change to match each other. It doesn't happen every single time, and it tends to happen to those stocks that i click on the most often. The real downside to this problem is the fact it makes the raw data for time and sales completely incomprehensible. That is, the raw data will almost always show the bid/ask as being the same for every trade executed and so it is impossible to determine whether the trade was on the bid or the ask (which is extremely important when you trade penny stocks). Any ideas what may be causing this?
I received that email yesterday as well. I have been using the patched version 3.9.8 over the last few months with MB Trading as my data source, and it works like a charm. Is there a more updated version of the patch I should be using? Or is this it? If so, where is the link for the latest download? So TDA has made it clear they no longer will support QT, yet they will hold on to it with their grubby hands for only their clients. It appears the strategy is to get existing clients to switch to their other platforms, or outside users to become TDA clients. And eventually scuttle QT. Again, is there a more current patched version than 3.9.8 ? I do see references to a 3.9.8a . What is the difference?
@x5, what you're describing happens when the symbol is getting data from 2 different sources. the only thing you can do about it Is switch your linked windows to use the same source @high99, If I remember correctly, the 3.9.8a version fixes the backfill issue for all sources. It also disables web date so tda cannot mess with the config files (like removing non-tda sources) This thread has a link to it, some tome around April 1, 2012
The sources I use are the TD Ameritrade Streamer, TD Ameritrade Level II, BigCharts Backfill, and Yahoo Snapshot news (i got that from a post earlier in this thread from you, thank you!)... Unfortunately TD Ameritrade doesn't offer a backfill for quotetracker (or at least I don't have it on my list of backfill sources) and I think the TD Ameritrade news isn't free... unless there's a snapshot TD ameritrade source I don't know about... so it looks like I may be stuck with this problem? Also, just to be sure, do you think that the fact I am using more than 1 source contributes to the actual raw data / time and sales data to be skewed as well? Is this what is causing the raw data to display the same bid/ask ?
X5, TD Ameritrade should be available as a "Backfill" source. It is NOT available as a "Historical Backfill" source. "Backfill" is for intraday. Hist backfill for historical charts. Raw data shows data coming in for Level I quotes (and backfill if done) So if it is screwed, then usually it means there are 2 different Level I sources. There may be an outside chance that if you also have a Level II window open with a source other than TDA, it may get Level I quotes as well and thus mess things up
Jerry, For my level II window, the source is "TD AMERITRADE Level II" For my portfolio screen, I have "TD AMERITRADE - Streamer (Clients Only)" For the news, "Yahoo News" For historical backfill, "BigCharts Historical" So both of the quote sources are from TD Ameritrade ... just as a note, the Level II quotes are ALWAYS correct, no matter what symbol I click on. Do you think maybe the TDA Streamer and the TDA Level II may be getting data from two different sources at TDA...?
Also, I only have one level II window open, and that is with the TDA level II quote source. I don't think the news source / historical backfill sources could interfere with the level I quotes... can they?
