QuoteTracker To Be Finished End of 2011

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by garbar, Jan 12, 2011.

  1. Rm3 - Advanced screener was very tightly integrated with TDA Advanced Analizer which TDA also discontinued. None of the other features in QT are that specific to TDA, except maybe option chains, but those are for TDA clients only anyway. Indicators are calculated by QT itself, and would not be impacted by anything TDA does

Jerry, that's good news that we won't be hostage to TDA.

They had a good screener in Advanced Anlayzer but it
seems they are determined to eliminate anything good.

    Hi, Jerry

Could you please explain how to set charts to display from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

    PC

    QT Version: 3.9.8a
    Windows: 7 Home
    CPU Type: Pentium

    My QT setup

    In Preference -> Charts -> Multi-Day Timeframes:

    Default Show Pre/Post Market: Never

set a new time frame from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm at "Active Market Time" and gave a name "MyChartTime" in the Timeframe Settings, and selected it as "Use as Global Default"

Was using InteractiveBrokers as data feed with above setup. Any new chart always has the said time span (8:00 am - 6:00 pm)

Yet when switching to StockWatch Streaming as the data feed, suddenly all charts went to -US Equities time span, every chart showed 9:30 am - 4:00 pm only. Have no clue why is that ??

Need to "correct" each chart by right click on chart -> View .... -> Show Toolbar -> Set Timeframes -> select MyChartTime to make chart displaying 8:00 am - 6:00 pm. For each and every chart, have to do this again and again.

Did I miss any thing here??

  4. "Default" only applies if the datafeed does not explicitly specify a timeframe. That is not the case with Stockwatch or many others. You would have to change it explicitly for each symbol. Once changed however, it should stay that way unless maybe if you clear all data.

  5. My quote tracker is totally dead. There is no incoming data. I'm w/ stockwatch.com, and they just confirm their data is fine and their server is fine.

I have that patch about 2 months ago, so the software ver. 3.98a is running fine until last Fri. (I wasn't here on Mon.) So, am I the only 1? Nothing was touch since last Fri.

    Jerry, can you help?

(I chat with you via email a few years ago when you were still supporting the software before Harrison)

  6. I just tried stockwatch with QT 3.9.8a and it worked fine.

Do you get some error? Green connection indicator on the stop button?

Try clearing all data (FILE/Clear Data For All Symbols menu)

  7. the button is sitting at STOP. I don't know what "Green connection indicator on the stop button" is

But by clearing the current day data, it does back fill. But the market is closed already, so I don't know if the feeding will be working until tomorrow

thanks for your help. I'll post an update tomorrow

    Hi, Jerry

    Thanks for your reply.

I guess what confused me is this: which one -- Default (Show Pre/Post Market:) or "Use as Global Default" -- has the precedence on the chart's time frame setting.

As said in my previous post: (in my case) with IB, "Use as Global Default" prevailed; however, with StockWatch, Default (Show Pre/Post Market:) owned the priority.

Based on your reply, my understanding is that Default (Show Pre/Post Market:) has the priority; then IB seems to be an exceptional case??

    Jerry,

Thanks for your continuing effort to keep QT alive. Using TDA, I have a problem which was corrected with the last QT web update, but is again broken with the patch. I suspect it has to do with a setting possible: I have to resort to restarting QT each day to get the last trade info for all charts, portfolios etc. Bid/ask is fine, but price/vol is missing until I restart, after which all is good. Any wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks!

  10. Show Pre/Post Market is entirely separate. As for the timeframe selection, for IB, the QT configuration did not explicitly set the timeframe for US stocks, where as for Stockwatch, it did. So when you switched to Stockwatch, QT no longer used default and instead used the one explicitly set by the config file, which was US EQUITIES.
