For a truly robust platform, i use Ninja. I can do anything i want with Ninja, and they get right on the phone when i can't! I just can't understand why you are still dicking around with an obsolete program?
Ummmm, probably because QT is the best!! You say "I can do anything i want with Ninja, " Well I have a suggestion for you and your Ninga
When you can't handle anything else, then the simplest may be the "best", for you. I tried QT, maybe about eight years ago? A very simplistic platform, great for beginners at the time. so was WIN98, at the time.
My rule of ignoring recent regs that talk trash has been invoked. Most likely a troll, serial nick changing moron. Or possibly a different kind of moron.
Lately my MBT Quotes within QT were asleep until I went to QT > Data Sources/Proxy > Quotes and checked the box "Always use System Time for Quotes" for my MBT Portflio. That awoke my MBT quotes from a near death sleep. MBT account information, positions, and orders still function within QT. As you say, you can not have MBT's desktop software running at the same time QT is logged into MBT for quotes/trading. I often place my MBT orders through QT.
Folks ... lets get IB to fix the problem......... http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=241433
Thanks for joining ET this month Kasty, and thanks much for your insight regarding Quotetracker. I have been using it for 12 years, but now that you have become a member here, well that does it for me. You're right. BTW, do you have an opinion about what religion you can recommend? Or who I should vote for in November? Or anything else you want to get off your chest? I don't want to waste anymore time "dicking" around. How old are you? About 12?
MBT requires two user names when using QT. One for their platform and one for QT when running both at the same time. This happened, oh, about two years ago. Ask them for a second user name which takes about two minutes to obtain, and you're good to go. Regarding issues, I have been using QT with MBT for 12 years, and I can count the "issues" on one hand in that time frame. Two of which have happened in the last two weeks and lasted about 30 minutes each time. Not a bad batting average.
High99, thanks for the help. That sounds like a very worthwhile fix. Does this also require two different passwords? Are you able to enter trades through both platforms when both platforms are running at the same time? I doubt the MBT customer service guys will be able to answer any questions on this subject.
I have two user names, but use the same password for both. Regarding trades, when running both at the same time I enter my trades using the MBT Desktop, and simply use QT for charts. I have never used the trade function which is available in QT.
