@reiehaxm I am having the same issue. Yesterday, running TWS 921.5, only see NYMEX symobl having this issue. Today morning, all symbols were having this issue. Knowing someone updated TWS a few days ago, I updated to the latest version TWS 924-3a. NYMEX symbol still not update with volume data. Everything else ok. Then had to logout of TWS becuase of unrelated network issue. After log back in. all future symbols are NOT updating with correct volume data again. Restart TWS and QT, does not help. I also have NinjaTrader connnect with TWS, NT's T/S shows volume data is updating correctly. Don't know what do these all mean.. It could be some server at IB is having issues. when you login to the "wrong" server, you have this problem. But then why NinjaTrader works ok?
Frustrating.......... I deleted all my java files and TWS files and reloaded everything.... same problem. I then reloaded to previous 923 version. Still the same. I just had a 45 minute chat with IB. Brandon W had me try a bunch of things. In the end he had me do a screenshot and is forwarding the info to the tech dept. He is going to email me when he hears back. I will update here if I hear back. I did not try the browser version but will try that if I cant get this resolved. I cant live without my QT and will go down with the ship before I give up.
Basically this happens when the cumulative volume (I believe the column is called just "Volume" in TWS) is not updating properly. Last Size/Volume may update, but not the overall daily volume. QT uses that and computes the per trade volume from the change in the cumulative volume to show in T&S. As for why NT does not have the problem - they don't compute it. Their T&S shows Last volume that comes from TWS. There are advantages and disadvantages to that, but I am not going to get into that since it is really irrelevant at this point.
Jerry, Would be nice to have a QT patch to do it the same say as NT does. Current QT's way may have more accurate read on volume data but I have noticed this happened before also. It lasted several days last time. Don't know how long it will last this time. When it happens, tick chart become useless. Don't know how much work there is. Anyway, thanks for your time and reply.
I get the impression that most of the QT users at the time of the QT acquisition by TDAT are still using QT.
From email support sent me: "QT is currently in the process of being drawn down. The tentative date for this is June 15th, 2012. A business decision has been made to cease support and maintenance of QT, so we are trying to integrate as many features as we can in to ThinkOrSwim from TD Ameritrade before that happens. When the drawdown is complete, QT will no longer be supported or maintained. In the meantime, we recommend trying out ThinkOrSwim. If you need any assistance with it or a walkthrough, just let us know and we'll see if we can get someone at TD Ameritrade to give you a call. For that, you would need a TD Ameritrade account, so if you have one, let us know the account number or userid (please do NOT send us any info other than that like password), a good phone number, day and time to call, and the timezone you're in."
gregiii....When did this happen before? I used IQFeed a while back but found my free IB feed worked just as well for how I trade. The ES can jump 3 handles before I get a volume update on TWS. I tried the browser version but its the same. Also, I couldn't get the "IB Gateway" to link up with QT. It's happening on all my stocks and futures on my watchlist. The volume column was always very active. Now it sits there and updates every 15 seconds or more. You would think people would be calling them like crazy.
