Wjen I looked to QT a few months ago took about 5 minutes to learn everything. After a few other very good apps I decided on Sierra charts. A deep & rich feature set that I'm still learing all the nuanaces! Very active community of users, and new great features come out of development several times per month! They listen to you too!
Thanks for the sales pitch Lucky. Are you saying since it only took you 5 minutes, that QT is for mouth breathers only? And SC is for Steven Hawking types such as yourself? That's really good to know. Perhaps you can give us other gems for everyday living as well. Like we shouldn't talk with our mouths full, and make sure we wipe our ass really well before going out to play. Please keep us filled in. Please.
I used to use Fidelity to get quotes but it looks like that option is not working now. Is there a patch for that?
The "patch" that is usually referred to is for the initial start-up, or launch, of QT on your computer. The patch simply bypasses the registration server at TD's headquarters. If an individual quote source, which in your case would be Fidelity, ceases to function, then you are out of luck. In the good old days the owners of QT would modify QT to make it start working again with Fidelity. Now, nobody does that. Unless you do it yourself if you know how to write computer software which I take it you don't. So, you need a new data source. IQ Feed has taken it upon themselves to do just that. They changed their programing and at the same time created a patch to still make it work with QT. Good for them. Besides IQ Feed, I don't believe anybody else has made the effort to do that.
I called TD Ameritrade regarding QuoteTracker. The rep I spoke with at TD said that while it is being wrapped up, they don't have any timetable as to when it will actually cease to exist. He said they have some products that have been in this stage since 2005. I wish I had better news to report. However, Cobra Trading clears Interactive Brokers, which allows integration with QuoteTracker. We're offering $0.004/share ($1 minimum, +/- ECN fees and rebates) commissions, for as long as QuoteTracker is alive, to anyone who opens an IB daytrading account here at Cobra. Please PM me if you're interested. Best to all.
