Newbs like QT because of its simplicity, not its robustness. A robust program is something along lines of Amibroker, or even SierraChart.
Downloaded the patch. When extracting the files, a pop-up appears saying "there are no files to extract".
It all depends on your platform, and on what you want to do. QT is rock solid and robust on Linux, whereas AmiBroker is not. I like Amibroker, but on Linux (and perhaps even on Windoof's - have never tried) is rather shaky. Additionally, QT is superb for charting, whereas AmiBroker is substandard in this regard. AB is excellent at backtesting, custom indicator and strategy creation, where QT is hopelessly substandard. I absolutely love QT, but I am a discretionary trader, and do not use, though I appreciate AB's strength at automation. What I use AB for sometimes is backtesting. If someone created a programm with QT's charting capabilities, its robustness on Linux, and AB's automation, backtesting and strategy development capabilities, it would be the most perfect of all possible trading worlds IMO.
How is QT's charting capabilities superior to Amibroker for instance? QT has basic charts (what program doesn't?), basic indicators and rudimentary user programming.
Why did you delete all your bogus and moronic calls on the ES thread in the last few minutes? How many aliases are you up to?
There is simply no comparison. QT for example you can have a 1 min-1day timeframe tick based (unconsolidated line) chart. So you can use any timeframe, and still display all ticks. If you still do not understand what this means (and this is really unique for QT), it means that you can have a chart of ANY timeframe, that displays ALL the ticks, WITHOUT any loss because of the resolution. Translated into plain English it means a chart, that DOES NOT REPAINT, even in higher timeframes. On the other hand, with AB, even if you display 1min charts (recommended data aquisition resolution) if you zoom out enough, the candles will write one ABOVE the other, overwriting the previous candles. Really ugly, if you ask me. This is what I call substandard. On the other hand, AB has capabilities that QT could never come even close to. This is why I say the combination of the two would be the best thing that could ever happen to retail traders. But unfortunately it will never happen.
I will not engage tickdaddy, as clearly she is a moron. My news years resolution is not to suffer fools. Which means many of you will not be hearing from me.
Try drawing a trendline in amibroker and than zoom price in and out ,you will see line jumping and not staying in one place.
Ensign had the same problem; dumped it a while back (4 years ago), so cannot comment on how or if it has changed.
