TDA's excuse sounds like BS to me. Unstable? Unmaintainable? They haven't touched it in over a year. The only thing they continue to do is run the registration server. So what? You don't even communicate with their registration server with the patch. I suppose someday QT will not be compatible with various brokers or data sources. I guess that is what they are referring too. Whatever. It keeps on working for me.
The 60 day history makes QT more useful to me than ever. As long as IB does not change their feed I envision using it for some time in the future.
Yes that's my hope. I have Etrade intraday data coming in for the ASX. If that keeps working and I can still get EOD/historical I'll be happy.
Oh, yeah, ToS will be the end-all, be-all, product. NOT ! Someone way up the chain made a HUGE investment in ToS. It is a cumbersome, unwieldly tool, IMO. I will never use it, and am seriously thinking about pulling all my 401K money out of TD Ameritrade, because of that lousy decision to go EOL on all their other great products. Another bonehead decision made by someone way up the chain in a company.
I have spent hours on TOS. It is not user friendly and the logic to get something done is cumbersome. So far, I really dislike it. I spent 45 minutes in "training" yesterday and knew more than the trainer. He couldn't answer any of my questions. Here are some of the probelems. 1. Title bars on charts take up a huge amount of room and cannot be reconfigured. This means only volume and perhaps 2 other indicators fit on a single chart before they get too small to read. 2. Volume and candles are not the same as on the QT charts. I don't know what to think about that. 3. Pivots are all in dots and cannot be changed to lines unless you program them in Thinkscript. 4. Thinkscript is supported via email right now. 5. No volume plus EMA unless you program it in Thinkscript. 6. Prophet charts are easier to read but, don't offer much flexibility in customizing the way they look. Prophet charts are a different program that they incorporated into TOS so, they offer two different charting programs in TOS. 7. Can't find your basic RSI indicator similar to the one in QT. I'm looking at a lot of different charting programs and have not been able to find anything as flexible as QT. This is frustrating!
If tdAmeritrade does throw QT (and many customers) in the trashcan, how difficult (and how legal) would it be for a good programer to write a patch to restore the data source? If hackers can break into Department of Defense computers, I think they could do that.
The data source comes from many places. MBTrading is mine. As long as "they" don't change anything, QT and MBT computers talk to each other.
Anyone experiencing QT problems today? Having some login problems here even though Ameritrade streamer is working fine.
