QuoteTracker To Be Finished End of 2011

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by garbar, Jan 12, 2011.

  1. You shouldnt have to create a folder. The files should be moved to the existing QuoteTracker folder. If you run QT, select HELP/About, you can click on the link there to open the QT folder.

With Win 7, you will probably get some security prompts about overwriting the files. you may want to extract them to some other local directory, then try to copy them (close QT first)

I think being able to use QT for an unknown length of time beyond 2011 may be a better description at this point in time.

  4. Just now I re applied the qt.fix patch. (instead of seperate folder ,copy all the files extracted and pasted in QT folder) 60 days data working.
Thanks Medved Ji. and the gentleman who gave the patch.
    I normally keep up to 10 charts (different symbols) in 1min,10 tick,0.1 & 0.3 range bar,some in voulme bar,some in P&F (0.005x10) like that.

My lap top not that strong. (only 2 gb ram/dual core 4 years old)

60 days intra day chart in too many charts in high volume/high tick symbols like SPY,XLE etc will freeze.
so reduced intraday charts to 4-5 and 2 historical charts.:D

A doubt: just to check I deleted all intra day data in XOM and backfilled using TD customer back fill.it gives 20 day only. so it has to accumulate over period of time-right? not instant 60 day from TD Am back fill ?
    thanks

Is there anyway of editing these files... comsec_au.lgs - comsec_au.mkd - comsec_au.sdf. as the data source has updated the website, Logon works retrieving data doesn't.

    Thank you

  7. Seem BigCharts stopped working a few days ago and this is the response from the help desk:

"The BigCharts are no longer working in QT as QT was designed in Delphi code and can no longer be updated. You can still use BigCharts as a Hist Backfill source under Options> Data Sources. Then you can open a regular Historical Chart with that feed."

    Reply to follow up question:

"QT is in the beginning of the draw-down process. Too early to have very much info available. QT was programmed in Delphi for Windows 95 and is rapidly reaching an unmaintainable state, so we are trying to integrate as many features as we can in to Thinkorswim from TD Ameritrade before that happens. When the drawdown is complete, QT will no longer be supported or maintained. In the meantime, we recommend trying out Thinkorswim. If you need any assistance with it or a walkthrough, just let us know and we'll see if we can get someone at TD Ameritrade to give you a call."

  8. Just to clear up the BS being shoveled - QT is written in Delphi, but NOT for Windows 95! QT doesn't even run on Windows 95. and the reason they cannot manage or update it is because they don't have anyone that knows it, not because of technology.

Jerry, a HUGE THANK YOU to you, Mike, et al, for the faithful, practical, & valuable yet cheap service you have provided for all these years. Wish so much it didn't have to wind down like this.

  10. Hi Jerry. Are you under a non-compete with TD Ameritrade?
