What version of windows and IE are you using? I am running windows 2000 with IE 6.0 and any details as to how I installed the certificates would be for windows 2000 with IE 6.0; However, I would expect Windows XP would likely be the same or close enough you would get this to work.
I'm using Windows 2000 and IE6, just like you. The problem started over a week ago, I couldn't log into TDAmeritrade from QT...but I could log in to the TDA website. Also, although I almost never user IE6, I tried from IE6 at the suggestion of Harrison (QT support) and discovered that just going to the TDA website was enough to produce the Security Alert. Does that sound familiar? Apparently QT uses Internet Explorer to establish connections.
ydfah...many thanks for the registration patch. Wow, 60 days of intraday data, I've been wanting that since the day I first tried QT. How ironic to have that now in the sunset weeks(months? years?) of the program. Just to make sure I understand how to apply the patch...I'm sure with stocks.exe it's just a matter of replacing the current stocks.exe. But what about the other .lgs and .bfl files. Same thing, just replace the current ones, if they are there? BTW, I've seen no mention of this...but will TDAmeritrade also cut off their data feed API to QT. I assume there's be no direct trading with them through QT, but it would be nice if the data kept flowing for a while.
Your problem is exactly as mine was. I can make it a 5 minute fix if you will PM me your email address. I can send you the two CA certificates and give you instructions of how I installed them.
barata, I also installed the registration patch. All I had to do was copy the qtfix.zip patch file in the C:\Programs\QuoteTracker folder and use win zip to extract the patch file within the QuoteTracker folder and the registration patch fix was compete. I also made a copy of my stocks.exe file within the QuoteTracker folder before extracting the qtfix.zip file in case for some reason I needed the original stocks.exe file later. I renamed the copy as stocks398.exe.
barata, Did you receive my email of what you need to log-in to tdat for data? Have you installed the certificates? Did they fix the problem you were having?
Catoosa, the security certificates worked great, but only partially. I can now login from IE6, but the TDAmeritrade login problem remains with QT. I checked on another computer, same problem. I had another, older,QT installation that was missing a bunch of files, I started it up (using v3.9.7) and after it downloaded a bunch of missing parameter files, it worked (login to TDA) without any problem. So I took the stocks.exe from that one and put it in my QT installation that had the problem. Started it up and the problem returned. This tells me the problem most likely is coming from one of the parameter(.par, .lgs, .mkd, .trd, .ind, etc... about 200 new files after the upgrade) files, possibly corrupted or changed by the security certificate problem that TDAmeritrade was having recently. There are three amtrade.xxx files. But which of all these files is the source of the problem?? The only thing I know is that it's not the stocks.exe file. Thanks for all the help, and at least I have one QT installation that's working.
noticing lots of 'fake' bad prints on ameritrades feed after the market close lately. prices having nothing to do with the days trading at all.
