QuoteTracker To Be Finished End of 2011

  1. Pakard,

EPIC Codes - just "Symbols" in our terminology

    1) Not sure what you mean by "Database", but you can have different lists in QT (portfolios) and each one can have a different source

    2) I guess you mean like a "Clear All Data" but be portfolio/list specific instead of ALL data?

    Jerry:

I’m a QT user, setup my trading system at QT. I have not found any program could replace QT. Now I’m using version 3.9.8 on Amreitrade. My urgent question is if QT can be used in Windows 8? If any problem, I got to buy a W7 computer as backup. Another question is backfill doesn’t work, is it Amreitrade data feed problem? Thank you for your answer.

  5. advanced screener is gone. The data for that was coming from the TD Ameritrade servers. They killed that.

    1) Data will be stored in a one place but the same data could be used in different portfolios / watchlist without increasing bandwith.

    2) Just to reset the buy price for all symbols in the watch list at the beginning of the year or any other date.

So I still have the quirk with the Ameritrade data feed where if I change a symbol on a chart, it will back fill the new symbol but won't stream it. Adding the symbol to the Portfolio as suggested seems to be part of the puzzle. After adding it to the Portfolio I can get it streaming if I 1) restart QT or 2) select the same server in "Select Quote Server". Not perfect, but it's a solution.

New problem: While trying to solve this, I backed up and moved QT and then did a re-install and applied the patch (from the link earlier in this thread). Ever since, I have been unable to connect to Lowtrades and Just2Trade and am getting prompted to register. Version is showing 3.9.8a. The correct info is in the Trading Preferences. I even transferred the .trd and .lgs files. Kinda stumped here. Any help would be appreciated.

Other observation: noticed that the new install uses 204. quote servers from Ameritrade while the old install uses 216. servers. Doesn't seem to make a difference though.

    Jerry,
I used your recommended method of moving QT to a new W7 computer by copying the QT directory onto a thumb drive and restoring it on the new computer. There is a shortcut to stocks.exe on my desktop, but when I click the Start button I see no QT, and if look through "all programs" I see nothing in the Quotetracker folder but the Online Help.

If I browse to the QT directory and double click stocks.exe, it opens with all my setups just fine. But how do I get Start to open it?

    Thanks

  10. @wilywilly,

The shortcut will be wherever you create one. If you only created one on your desktop, then that is the only place you will have it. If you also want it in your start menu, you can just copy shortcut you have on the desktop to your Start menu. To do that:

Hold down the CTRL Key (and keep holding)
LEFT-Click (and HOLD) the shortcut on your desktop and move it over the START button.
When start button opens, move the mouse (and the shortcut you are dragging) over the ALL PROGRAMS.
Once ALL PROGRAMS opens, move the mouse where you want the new shortcut to be and drop it (let go of the LEFT mouse button)

(Let go of the CTRL Key now)

That should create another shortcut for QT on the start menu. Same thing can be done with any shortcuts.
