When I said: ---------------------------------------------- Fortunately, Bank of America has lead the way to offer free stock trading, then free quote data should be the next. mainwhile a new breed of trading software has started to emerge. ----------------------------------------------- I really was thinking about free quote service on internet. But then, most of brokers today already provided real time quote services as long as you have an account opened with them. What is missing has nothing to do with free trade and free quote. The core interest of any brokerage firm is to make profit from the transaction fees. Then the more customer making more trades, the better for the brokers. For this reason, brokers should make their quote/trader service available via programming interface, hence enable software (trading and analytics) to be built on top of their service, further expande customer base. QT has done one thing really good, that is to fill this gap between brokers and third party software. Most of features in QT are merely downloaded from web sites, for example the chart are gif pictures downloaded from bigchart, news are downloaded etc.. QT is merely a shell yet gather all stock trading resources from internet. Already people thanks to what QT has provided, which is really nothing much but simply make it available what is alrready there on internet with a bit convenience. In stock trading, information is konwledge. Besides the basic data such as quote, news and reports, it's really all about communication. Traders tend to find out what other traders are doing. Who can detect where the herd of traders are heading would benefit from this prophet. Therefore, trading platform is a communication platform for the minimum. Only TC2000 has met this expection as I last checked. For new generation of traders, algorithm has replaced guts feeling in making decision of trading. Based on the same data, quote, news, reports, computer programs, instead of human brain are more and more playing the role of make the calls. Automated trading, strategy trading, calculated trading have become available to both hedge fund manager and amateur traders, only if such kind of software tool is widely available too. Wealth-lab, tradestation, eSignal etc. all have down this road, but QT doesn't. Communication and home made trading system are the features we will see more in the new trading software.
Which in my opinion makes it worthless unless you are a new user or a new Ameritrade user since they pulled any and all posts about other brokers, ect out. Can't blame them I guess since QT is now a Ameritrade product.
Are you sure that is right version 77 ? Try doing a search for brokers. And you can ask questions and make comments and suggestions at www.forum.qtusers.com HTH
who needs QT when you can buy MultiCharts for $399. http://tssupport.com/products/multicharts/ don't tell me you can't even afford $399.
Ah... I guess I opened my typing fingers before they knew what they were typing... my bad... And the QTusers forum is a good place for QT users to ask questions, ect...
Are you kidding? I didn't even pay that much for my car... Why would anyone pay that much for a charting platform that is having so many problems?...
