I just finished developing an end-of-day quote downloader, QuotesTK, that groups securities based on the index they belong to. It automatically checks for new security additions, as well as, those that are delisted. With multi-threading support, it is pretty darn quick. Would you mind being a little more explicit? Does it only lock up when downloading the DOW, or others as well? Does the program give a error and crash or only freeze? Also, what does the text box display when the lock up occurs? The DOW component list is downloaded from Yahoo unlike the S&P indices in which the list is downloaded directly from Standard & Poors. For some reason the DOW list takes longer. However, should the list timeout after 7 seconds, it should continue downloading the quotes based on the most recent updated list. Released version 1.02 of QuotesTK which now supports dividend and split adjusted historical data. Also included new indices in the basket, as well as, some other minor improvements.
