I've also been subscribing since at least 1998 and was just about to ask them why I didn't get updates for the last few days. I noticed that I didn't get charged my normal "Annual Fee" in October and they instead started charging me on a monthly basis ... I think that was probably a nice courtesy for a long time User. I had QP2 running in "Set-it and Forget-it" mode and really didn't think it would go bust. I've written at least half a dozen programs that use their database to extract trading info or perform screening. I have found that FinViz is an excellent on-line tool for various screens but it doesn't have any ability to perform historical screens. One of my favorite uses of QP2 was to generate stock portfolios to backtest intraday strategies. I used QP2 to screen for stocks that have various characteristics over some historical period. This greatly reduced the amount of data required for testing a strategy. I could also establish portfolios for historical dates and then forward test those portfolios to get a better estimate of real-time trading results. If anyone knows of an on-line tool that lets me screen for stocks on a historical basis please let me know e.g. find all stocks on September 29, 2011 that are above $X a share, have an Average Daily Volume of Y shares and the Range for the day is 2 times the Average Daily Range.
Trading can be a tough lonely business so it's always kind of shocker when you lose an old friend. ----------------------------------------------------------- RIP www.qp2.com Due to financial circumstances beyond our control, we will no longer deliver any data after Friday, January 6,2012. Please direct all inquiries to info@quotes-plus.com Thank you -----------------------------------------------------------
I too found them unparalleled for manipulating the data. I also used them to fill spreadsheets with Fundamental data such as industry etc, Also, their industry monitor charts were very handy for finding groups on the move. There was so much more you could with the scanning software...roll your own. Over the last few months, the industry monitor indexes were not updating every Saturday as they used to. Maybe that was a clue. It's definitely a downer. db
I'm still looking for a source that has good clean data that is at least split-adjusted, but would prefer dividend-adjusted as well. I already use csidata, but need a second source for when they are down. Anybody know of others?
