  1. a buddy of mine has nothing but great things to say about erlanger and qcharts. I didn't try it because of the bad press on this site:mad:

    im gonna try it now.

I currently have Real tick, and tradestation ok , but i think erlanger will be the way to go.:)

I used RavenQuote last year when it was only $40 per month, together with QCharts. I thought then that it was one heck of a deal.

Now I am thinking of going back to it, and it has changed names and the price is $80 per mo. What about Stock Watch Pro? They are only $40 per mo., and the comments in the software section of this site are very favorable.

    Any comments?

  4. Sounds like a lot of us are going around in circles trying to find something better. I've looked at and used Qcharts, Realtick, StockWatchPro, Ensign, Neo, Prophet and have found that Qcharts is the only one that does what it should in a simple to use way. Realtick is great too, but I can't integrate with IB (if it did, that's what I'd use)

I've tried other packages that act dumb: like I can't double click on a chart to maximize or restore, or when I change chart size candle spacing changes and I have to manually reset various parameters. I don't understand why so many companies are introducing features like backtesting and system development, etc. when their basic charting just sucks.

I'm also running SWP. It also sucks bigtime, but I have not found anything else that will work the way I want it to. I'm using SWP level 2 (to integrate with IB) and quote windows (for custom column formulas). The downside is SWP doesn't save workspaces and preferences correctly, symbols get randomly added to quote windows, interval linking doesn't work right, opening any chart causes it to crash, and support just provides standard answers that have no bearing on my situation. But.....no other package can do what I need during the trading day.

You might check out the new eSignal 7.1. The developer of Ravenquote has been at eSignal for the last year working on the newest features. Plus the lead developer of QQL is also now at eSignal.

For more information and to the latest version released today go here:

  6. Chuck, I'd go to esignal instantly if the following were to occurr.

    1) Quote windows with custom formulas. I can't imagine trading without columns for gap open, change from open, and % in range today.

    2) Stop your sillyniss about symbol limits.

This would be assuming that previous esignal limitations like no 200ma on a 15mn chart have been eliminated.

It would be to your infinite benefit to have a demo. Any serious trader needs to know exactly how the software works and what it can do. I'd be far more likely to become a customer if I could try the software out. Please don't tell me about your "trial". It's not free, and I'm not interested in paying to learn about software that might not be appropriate for me.

My suspicion is, that with IB integration, if you vastly improved quote windows, you'd get a ton of new customers very quickly.

  7. Interesting why car dealers do not charge $50 per test drive ?

  8. No 200 MA on 15mn chart ?????

What is that ? a joke ? Are you a eSignal user ?

I am using it every day on my eSignal since I first subscribed to it (ie since 7.0 version) as well as a 150 MA without any issue at all. I was previously an unhappy Qchart user, complaining every day about problems on servers...

I would add also that eSignal Backtesting feature is far far superior to Tradestation one...

But that is true, we need the following :
    - good quotesheets (so far it is still the old eSignal quotesheets),
    - good alerts (so far it is on par with Qchart, should be on par with StockWatch Pro to be good)
    - good scanner (like StockWatch pro for example)...

Having a StockWatch pro for eSignal would be nice too, but the developpers there seem to be not very fast enough to implement eSignal API in their application...I guess they are not interested by the 10 000+ eSignal customers...(sic)!

Appreciate the feedback. We have waived the trial fee, so it is free except for exchange fees now.

GeorgeSoros - thanks for the compliment on the Back Testing - we also think it is the best!

Users get the Back Testing, and eSignal Formula Script, and Tick Charts as part of the latest upgrade to 7.1. We also have continuous emini contracts (which some vendors have been promising for years) available.

On those other requests, we are already hard at work on the next version.

  10. How are we doing on the bad tick problem Chuck?

I still haven't heard anyone say it has been fixed. A couple of folks were suggesting workarounds, but that don't cut it.

    Thanks,
