Quick question for classical music aficionados

Any recommendations for 2-3 CD compilation set that I can use as background music at home? No particular composer preference – mix would be the best.

Also, feel free to recommend any high quality portable music player that's neither iPod nor mobile phone.

Pandora.com and type any classical composer or just classical music. There is a fee but it is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
