Question: how to deal with trolls? Can't anybody do something about them?

Not true...other forums doing such with very little problems. Regardless, many things Baron has done here at ET to fix a problem...the worst case scenario did not occur.

Simply, its going to happen...except it. Yet, if the worst case scenario does happen...he'll easily roll it back.

Reminder, dissenting opinion folks can start their own threads just as long as they are not violating Elitetrader.com's TOU policy in their dissenting opinion.

Just be aware that they need to start their threads in the appropriate places and not harass and cause other TOU policy problems. Just take a look at threads in Chit Chat that got moved to Chit Chat after they started in the trading threads...lots of dissenting opinion but the reason why those threads ended up in Chit Chat was due to arguing, fighting, harassing, personal attacks of those dissenting opinion.

Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with having opposing opinion...just don't do it in such away to get your thread moved to Chit Chat as so many others have so far has done before this latest implementation by Baron.

Depends on what sort of "potential members" are desired.

I could be wrong but if someone is harassing someone, hijacking threads via off-topic commentary and they decide to leave ET because of this new OP feature...

Good riddance because the increase in useful sharing content should easily offset the loss of a troll.

Then again, the troll can easily hang out in Chit Chat and post his/her commentary and then realize others there will most likely troll the troll. Such happens already down there every day and we didn't have this new implementation.
