i follow volentes "ym traders" thread closely, he is the expert on s/r and has answered a lot of questions for me...
I have been looking at using the $tick as an experienced poster Macroevent uses it with success and so does Linda Bradford(market wizards). I was wondering what your experience regardeing the tick was. Macroevent seems to use it on the 5 min chart and it looks like you like the 1 min chart. Anyway, thanks in advance.
I haven´t found tick useful, seems to be mostly for scalping, but i read in some thread that someone used it with 5-min bars. When there´s congestion he was looking for breakouts of the +-800 levels meaning that buy and sell programs kick in there. Supposed to be a way to see if the breakout is to the upside or downside. But when you see how often breakouts are false, i don´t know... might be worth looking at though.
With fully automated trading accounts... YES! In discretionary trading, NO!. The day is so large and there is always more opportunities coming. There isn't a sense of missing an opportunity. It's what separates alot of the ET types who run the gauntlet and say "Why not just trade all day and grow your account to some value THEY largely find to be unbelievable???"' Very SIMPLE! The worst loss is your own time, profits can accumulated continually. For me, doing the auto thing is a luxury since it is having it both ways, freeing time, securing profits. Ooo FTT on the 5M monitor closer... MAK!
I say we go for it. Lets up the level of discussion and start talking about trading tactics. How does one go about developing one? I guess you need to have the correct channels first(ST,IT,LT). Not sure if we have gotten that down so far. Assuming we do, what are the key points for execution? In Alexander Elders book, he mentions that the Longer channels take precedence over the shorter channels. At what point though does the shorter channel(maybe intraday) take precedence over the ST? What are the implications of FTT of ST, IT, or LT? Just more thoughts. I hope this is a productive weekend for us all to learn.
Thanks. I think Macroevent said in a post that he uses the tick to gather the strength of an ES move. I will reread through his posts to make sure.
I watched ticks for a long time but no more. Channels and volume fine tuned with t&s and DOM gives me more information than I can process already.
YES... YES... I was on volume. It's the whole price bar sticking. Volume pushed it retraced it and then surged the bar back from pt3 towards the LTL... I liken it to pumping... The monitor was a bit more closely since my 2M YM was ordinary. The WWT was on the 5M. It literally popped up while I was typing my last post. A discernable FTT on YM was later. Thru 23... MAK!
