What a super post txuk... SUPER! Having sat thru many semesters of ivory tower classes, there is such a neat group of individuals asking bullseye questions that are so important and real eye openers. Surprisingly, there were few of these moments at the ivory tower. It is neat because these posts are substative and shows that you are in fact "getting it"! 3 Weeks and Channels are slo-mo (ie. hurry up and get to pt1, pt2, pt3, FTT, S, R - the action areas). Bar calibrations are adjusted so that we're not hyper (ie. bar scaling). Channel sequences... 5M/2M... Gaussians. How do we step things up a notch... SUPER!!! Thru bar 76... I need to debrief my lateral on this one. I know where the change was (ie. always a volume answer). MAK!
Voila... I was hoping someone would have noted this on their chart. As Grob has stated, we have to step into considerations where Higher Fractal channels are in action. This is the concurrency of channel boundaries at play. Personally, I do this with SPX which is fully annotated for all the fractals in order to annotate the boundaries that are present. It is best to do on the ES# but it is a personal current limitation. Ignore the 2M YM on the right. Yes... I cheated again for the pt3 that was anticipated, came, and then went. Some how this got lost in the many posts I attempt to post after hours largely because I have to keep temporarily OT aspects off the table, usually I just save intended posts. Tomm I will be in court so I will not be able to post, but my weekend effort will be in full effect. There are alot of important Q's on the table especially Gaussians and covering these bases are important so that each aspect is knowledgeably and skillfully acquired ... Kind Regards all MAK!
Hello I've just joined the Jack Hersheys MSN group and am reading the documents, very interesting, I have a newbie question so sorry if this has already been covered but when reading the documents in the Channels Documents folder ,I presume I start here, I got the impression that you trade ES on a 5 minute chart using YM on a 2 minute chart as the leading indicator. So does that mean you only trade ES and not YM ? Or do you trade both ES and YM using channels? Can I use channels to trade the YM? What timeframe is suggested for trading YM ? Many Thanks
I cant speak for others but I trade YM and ES interchangably depending on which one I see as stronger/weaker on the day. Some days there is no difference but often one will be noticeably stronger/weaker than the other. Im sure Jack trades ES primarily because of liquidity problems with YM. At this point Im not trading enough contracts that this is a problem for me. Eventually it will be. Trading off the 5minES and 2min YM charts is not a problem.
I have attached a YM chart, 2 minutes for yesterday, if possible could someone draw the channels on this chart? This would really help in my understanding of channels if I can relate them to a recent chart, if it is too much, perhaps some one can list the starting and ending of channels, or at least the first few channels For example, 14:30 start channel on low of bar 14:30 end first channel on bar 15:00 etc The horizontal axis is time GMT +1 Many Thanks
Yesterday i had time to stay for most of the afternoon. I found it hard to grasp what was happening. I thought price moved almost randomly. Tried to look at pace, volume, pressure from sellers/buyers, but i didn´t get much help. How about you who are more experienced, was the afternoon yesterday a piece of cake? The most reliable thing to me when price behaves strange is s/r, like magical, price almost always stops at the lines i´ve drawn... anyway, i´m starting to thing about the channels as s/r but in a different angle
Osho, Take a look at the document that mgin posted here: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54894&perpage=6&pagenumber=31 called "b family of channels.doc" Also, take a look at the couple of .gifs Jack (Grob109) posted here: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54456&perpage=6&pagenumber=4 These should give you some starting points to begin drawing the channels yourself and generate any questions you might have. Anthony
Stalk, what are you using for S/R ? Since switching to Ensign I don't have any SR lines on my charts, but this morning I looked back at my TS charts and noticed how often price reversed around the daily pivots.
Afternoons are more difficult for me too. Once the morning volume fades the moves become much more erratic. I make 90% of my money before noon. When you take out the hi or lo of the day in the afternoon then things can get interesting again but when price is moving along in the middle of the range its tough. Jack has said a number of times that you can do pretty well if you just catch that first trend in the morning and I have found this to be pretty true. Dont try to bite off too much at once.
