  1. It asks me to lower my macro settings. How can I accept the macro for the prv tool only while still blocking others (or am I worrying needlessly).Know nothing about excel.

Does DTN.iq use the same DDE server as IQFeed? If not then you will need to update the spreadsheet cells that contain DDE links to match DTN.iq's required format. You'll find several posts in this thread about which cells need to be updated. Beyond that you will probably need to find anther DTN user that has it working or dig into the sheet and figure out where it is failing. Note I ran the IQFeed version without any changes regired. Also note Mak's latest revision works only with IB.

  3. Yes, as far as I can tell, it uses the same server. When I run the spreadsheet, it asks me if I want it to connect to IQFEED. I reply yes (3 times), and then the spreadsheet comes up. But no live data.

I am no Excel expert. But perhaps here's a clue: When I first tried, it gave me an error when trying to connect to IQFEED. I searched my HD for iqfeed.exe, and found it in d:\windows\system32. Since my current OS is installed in C:, I tried copying it to c:\windows\system32. After I did this, the error message seemed to stop.

When I open the DTN icon in my system tray, it tells me "clients connected: 1" (i.e. Ensign, my charting program). I would think it should read 2.

    Any ideas?

I have a program called IQLink Launcher on my start menu. It's only job is to start IQLink the DDE server. It's not necessary on my computer to use this program, but when I do I am not prompted to start iqfeed.exe as you are. Try this and if it doesn't work you may consider a reinstall of dtn. Almost certain you shouldn't have to move the installed .exe files around to get it to work.

  5. Thanks. Tried reinstalling iqfeed, and data seems to be coming through now. It's hard to say in the slow market.

    Should I be seeing anything?

This is what my spreadsheet looks like presently. Is this right?

    Thanks for your help.

  6. I do see volume cell changing, and I changed pace thresholds so I can see volume moving up.

If "fractal" is set to 5, does this not mean that it should be measuring the volume of each 5 minute bar separately? If so, why does bar time not change?

    Sorry for beginner questions.

I'm playing around with this too. I have the FV updating based on the ED rate, but I am using the static indexarb dividend/divisor value that is only updated after hours. Have you found a way to update the dividend component intraday?

  8. I am hopeless. I have been using the combined xl for several days without realizing I was not seeing the whole thing. Jeez. Anyhow, is there some way to reduce the size of the excel workspace without changing my resolution?

I quit live trading shortly after ten as I have a disease called PP (profitprotectionitis) which afflicts me after a parabolic move. Gotta luv the Fed even if its only a speech. However the sim trading went pretty well with five reversals and no drawdowns. Maybe I was just lucky but I feel pretty good about the way things are going. Even with all the new stuff I still find the channel lines to be the most help.

  9. LOL Easy - no your not. You just work at the Easy pace, which is different than the Mak pace, or the Anthony pace, or the Ireland pace. (Mind you, I'm not sure Anthony has a forward pace yet...)

    Better than having rightitis.

Glad to hear things are moving forward for you!

As to changing the spreadsheet - I put excel where I want it and size it accordingly, and then change the zoom percent to fit that. Mines set at about 50%, with excel using 3/4 of the screen real estate (I have a wide laptop screen 17"? or so) Although... my wife comes in and says "What are you squinting at??"

edit Wow, misplaced cut and paste sure can make for some funky messages...

One thing I did to conserve screen space is reduce the width of the prior volume bars. Example, highlight column N, right click, select Column Width, set to 1.5. You will not be able to see the volume numbers in each cell, but you can still see the highlights of how high the bar reached and see the corresponding numbers in col P. Also you can right-click on a column and select Hide.
