  1. Do you know what the dow is waiting for?

  2. Personally I dont see a whole lot of upside to the Dow but this is why I love daytrading on a 5 minute chart, I dont have to worry about it. Sometimes I feel like cat. Im just sitting here where no one can see me, waiting...........:)

p.s. Of course some days we go hungry.:D

  3. this is really weird, i downloaded Mak's latest excel page and it worked great yesterday.

now i upgraded TWS, and the excel isn't processing the data, although it IS plugged in and receiving data. i'm getting market depth, but no pace readings or bar counting.

    anyone know what's up?

I never did get the new one to work properly. The behaviour the Easy described when he dragged a window over excel, I experienced at all times. But I haven't upgraded my TWS in a while so I'll do this after market and see if it makes a difference.

  5. Dan did you go back in to make sure dde was enabled ? Perhaps the upgrade overwrote it.

Disregard. I didnt read your post correctly.

p.p.s. I never upgrade tws until Im forced too. Maybe you could go back to the previous build.

Mine works but with the additional demands on DDE the xls is quite lagging. I am running the old one on a different PC and that seems to work fine with no lag. The latter gave me excellent timely signals today for down move and up move by 10:50 - some nice apples Mak !

I wonder if splitting into 2 xls or VB would be less resource intensive - am up for the challenge if so.

For fun, I put some code together for TradeStation to do PRV - will post.

  7. With charts, tws, and both excels and buttontrader running mine seldom get over 30% cpu usage. Am using the new AMD 64.

  8. thanks guys, i downgraded the TWS to 856 (i think) and it's working again.

the thing was slick and super smooth for me yesterday (and now it is again). it was soooo cool watching a bar start out in VDU (from 30s into the bar) and then accelerating to fast pace....and either continuing or falling out of fast into medium....it looks like to me that the typical wash period is during a fall into PRV medium pace.

it's like the difference between looking at a set of static progressive images and then placing those images in a flip book and just flipping it.

i think i 'get it' at least as far as picking the lowest hanging fruit. hopefully i won't hit any snags for tomorrow and i'll be ready to get the job done.

edgers typically trade during a bar close/bar open period of time yes? (i mean losing edgers, not you easy). Could the volume bursts seen at the beginning of a bar have something to do with this? i certainly don't want to be entering when the money funnelers are entering.

you've outdone yourself with this app. mak.

one more thing, i'm making camtasia videos for myself. Is there anyway to speed up the process of encoding a video into a gif? It takes hours for the thing to get done.

edit:, my current build of TWS is 857.7 so something in 858, broke the excel thingy for me.

  9. What I really like about it is the pure visual aspect of it. I got to where I could do prv fair with the rays but was never really able to monitor sq/str for long. Mak has made it easy to do both and I am starting to make some connections. This last reversal off the low was a pretty good example. I did not take it but the signal was there. It will take awhile to gain some confidence that I am seeing things correctly but now it is just a matter of time.
