I was away from the markets the entire day today but the last few days I have experienced very sluggish range charts. I knew there was a problem when the Excel spreadsheets with DDE were displaying updates quicker than Quotetracker.

  2. PRV saves the day again. Lost big points (for me - small account)) because the CQG data said one thing and the eSignal data said another during peak volume. Got it back after entering one of those headfake DU moves that led to some volume. :) Apologies to the purist as I try to make the tools work for me during this learning period.

  3. I sidelined the majority of the afternoon. Was very boring watching bar after bar pass by with little to no projection. Only had 1 PM bar that beared any fruit. Was expecting the AM volume to come back. Thank goodness for PRV. The IB stuff will be up soon. I'm still getting this open bug which I can't seam to program away...

As for QT, thanks TBUG for the heads up. I had been waiting for that feature for a long time, although I had not taken the initiative as you did to inquire. Additionally, the lag that TXUK mentions wrt QT has also been problematic. Sometimes, shortening the amount of backfill helps and reducing the number of symbols seams to help...

I was getting an on open bug caused by reference to a value that had not yet been filled. An on error GOTO may code around it but I'm sure you know this.

My moring was excellent - really good using PRV. The afternoon took some of that back - I got several fast paced break outs but they didn't go anywhere and the washes were expensive. I need to know when to exit/wash on time and when to sideline. Vol under10 or 12k I understand to be a dangerous area and much of the afternoon was indeed that but so too is DU which pre-empts a fast pace move. If I can figure out how to recognize this and sideline as you wisely did for the afternoon - I will have made great progress. PRV was hot this morning though - really hot ... as Paris might say.

  5. Will definitely try the GOTO approach. Doh... Sometimes I need to think simpler....

As for the PM.... Here's where I hone in... Yes washes tend to be costly. Once I gave back .5 per contract on a bar where I had a fat finger.... For me, I tear a page out of the equities knowledge base. In the equities paradigm, they wait UNTIL DU is exceeded before they take action. Rather than use DU, I use VDU. So when you watch the current PRV bar, you will see that VDU (ie. <2500 vol) is highlighted blue, it is also the value of B1 which is the current bar's volume. Your comment about resolving whether the PRV'd pace is a failure can usually be resolved by holding out for VDU to be exceeded. It is simultaenously the point where the DRY UP cell will light up. As you watched this afternoon, there were many times where things started out EXTREM or FAST and then quickly faded back into the SLOW/DU/VDU. If you watch carefully, you will often find that the point at which the bar's volume exceeds VDU threshold, the PRV is reliable.

Simultaneously, MACD and MACD HIST were ZEROED. However, just keeping to PRV, then if the previous bar was a MEDIUM/SLOW, I then lay back on PRV by considering the PRV projection to be consistent based on the current bar's volume surpassing the VDU. This is the same as the equities folks who look for DU to be exceeded in the AM. They know that on a PRV basis that by the day's end, volume will be extreme... It is the same concept...

Gonna give this GOTO thing a stab... Tried the exit sub thing...

  8. Here it is...

    IB PRV & ABSTRACT STR.NEUT.SQU...

I repeat this is for IB users only...
The only sheet that will require any type of change is the IB DDE SYNTAX sheet. Change cell B2 to your IB userid. Cells B3 through B6 can be altered to whichever pair you want.

TXUK/AWEISSEN/EASY/IRL... One of you guys let me know whether or not you are able to fire it up...

  9. Pretty cool Mak. Seems to be working fine here. Much better use of space. Much appreciated.:) :)

edit: Have found one little quirk. If you drag a chart over the excel sheet it will dissappear but is easily fixed by restarting it. Once I get everything in the right place that should not be a problem.
