I was pretty sure when we took out the LOD that 1290 was going to be tested. If I am expecting a decent move I try not to exit until I get a higher low on the 5 min chart which finally came on the 2:25 bar. The last swing low almost always gets tested so I feel fairly safe as long as we are working off of a new low. I seldom exit on the longest volume bar as it almost always is not the high or low. The high/low will come later on less volume about 90% of the time. I do not use the Macd and Sto in a strict sense. I just use them for a general indication of whats going on.
You did notice that this higher low was also an FTT, right? They almost always are. Jack said awhile back that if you are an edge trader, ftts are youre highest probablility reversal pattern. Sometimes I get the feeling that he knows what hes talking about.
Mak your post on page 380 with NQ settings is now a lot clearer and relevant having watched ES for a limited number of days. The range today on the NQ was pleasant as it often is. I plan to run a PRV version tommorrow also on the side with the settings. I rounded #s as shown. ES of course remains the focus IRL
Presumably, no news is good news! It's kind of eery that it is so quiet! Irl, when you understand the mechanism so to speak, it is all the same, 5M/10M/15M/20M/30M/45M/60M/... ER2/YM/NQ/DAX/ES/SP... FOREX is a bit different... Eventually you just realize that the mound is huge and your bucket is small regardless of the size of bucket you can manage. There's no rush either since the mound keeps growing, being fed by the world's capital... I knew Easy was on that rocket as soon as I saw the fast line head into the zone... Then I saw the second 5M bar and was wondering whether it was a tough going second 5M bar. Definitely a nice apple... In any event, I hope more than just the trollers and lurkers are taking their share. It would be a shame if only they are benefitting... Their PM's disgust me... Regards, MAK
yes indeed - assume that we are diligently glued to the screen and seeing good stuff. Today two nice examples the PRV caught - the big ass down move at midday and then after meandering at the bottom sent a telegram to go long into the close. I recorded part of the day also so that was useful for play back - hope to make an improved recording of tommorrow's action. comes in about 60 megs for a day using TX's camtasia format i.e. not avi. Quality is excellent Don't dissapear on us Mak, your checking up on status is appreciated and as you said, no news is good news. IRL
I did not enter on the fast line as the LOD was just below and I dont like to enter right above possible support areas. I entered on a sellstop one tick below the low and was in the green almost immediately. Went to breakeven shortly thereafter and rode out the drift sideways as I was almost certain we were headed for 1290 minimum. I was ready to exit on any bounce there but we sailed right through it.
I'm not sure if you guys know of TA-LIB of not; so since your so creatively active with using Excel, I thought I'd mention it in case you may be interested. It's a library of 120+ ta indicators availble not only through a programming language api, but also as a pluggin for Excel. kt
Wow....What a day!!! Thought I was going to have to recalibrate the PRV tool because it was staying redlined. Got out of my short just before the FOMC announcement, thankfully.
