question about MACD

Discussion in 'Technical Analysis' started by robinxing, Jul 3, 2007.

  1. I am using MACD to determine the intraday trend

but sometime MACD signal line crosses the zeroline frequently

and after the signal cross above or below

the price does not continue the trend

it begins to sideway in a narrow range

    how to handle it

I hope some one can give me some help

    thank you very much

Wait for the price range to break before you enter.

Also, remove MACD from your charts and the problem will magically disappear :D

  4. Why do you need an indicator to tell you the intraday trend ? Especially something that loves to report what happened 10,000 years ago.

Use at least three time frames, small, medium, large. Learn to recognize the key levels on the large one, use the medium for intraday trend, and the small one for entry.

Newbies use indicators, ditch them all now, the faster the better.

I'll tell you a little secret get rid of anything that does not just assist you in recognizing support, resistance, volume and price action(highs and lows). Why use something that is just reporting what's on screen but at a much slower speed?

MACD, Stochs, RSI, Bollinger, Keltner, all newbie crap that distracts.

It's very simple, either support/resistance gets taken, or price chops between or around them. End of story.

Lines lines and more lines is all you need.

  5. Well said. Looking at a simple chart should yield the same information to a practiced eye.
