Question about IB Symbols

I am trying to add a ticker in TWS for the Dow, Nasdaq and S&P. "INDU" works fine for the Dow Industrials but I can't find and symbols that work with TWS for Naz and S&P. Any suggestions? Thanks

You can check for symbols under the help menu (symbol lookup).
According to IB the symbol is 'NCI' for the Composite and 'NDX' for the Naz100 Index. I couldn't find the S&P but I didn't spend much time searching.

Thanks for the suggestion but I had tried NCI for Nasdaq... it didn't work. I e-mailed IB about it.... waited on hold long enough!

 

I just tried NCI and the system took it. However There was no quote. I don't know if this is because it is after hours.

 

Didn't work during hours either.

 

try ndx and spx for the cash for NQ and S&P futures.

How come the symbol NCI is registered by your system, but no quotes come up?
