Question About ETF'S

    ETF'S dont pay dividends do they.I had a quick look on the amex website but didnt see any info on it,just want to double check

    I believe they do. I was short the SPY and got hit with dividend payments a while back. The dividends are based on holdings.

Check again - on their nav bar, expand the ETFs tree, then expand the Product Information tree, then click Description and pick an ETF (DIA), then click Distributions in the navbar and it should should you the annual distribution summary for DIAs - looks like there's some kind of distribution every month.
     
  4. The ETFs do indeed pay dividends. It is less than the dividends on the underlying stocks since the dividend declared is net of the annual operating expenses. QQQ is an exception, no dividend, since few of the Nasdaq 100 issues any dividends and it is entirely eaten up by the expenses of the ETF.
