Is it possible to close a centrino-based notebook and still have it running (i.e., with Internet Explorer open and continuously connected to my wireless router)? I subscribe to a stock alert service that notifies me realtime, and I want to be able to carry my notebook in the closed position around my house and still be able to hear an audible alert go off and open up my notebook on the spot.

Any centrino-based notebook users that know if this can be done? Is there a special windows setting? If not, what other portable options are there (e.g., PDA, tablet pc) that can accomplish the above?

    Any help would be appreciated.
