No, it doesn't bother me, but perhaps it should bother you, were it that integrity matters at all.
    Let it be so.
Now, please read verse 22 again.

"Then the LORD God said, 'Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever' ”—

The Bible "teaches us" as you so quaintly put it, that only after Adam has eaten does he "NOW" know good and evil.

Not surp[rising really seeing as how it was the Tree of Knowledge which leaves Adam unknowledgeable before. So there was no sin of willful transgression.

.Adam "has BECOME like one of us",.
He did not know and could not have known what was good and what was evil before he ate the apple..He could not have known it was evil wrong sinful or whatever not to be able to carry out what was God's impossible order

In the Genesis allegory, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’” .

There is shown no cause, other than God's own willful deceit, for Adam to die. The Tree of Life was available, according to the Bible. So what is often attempted by apologists to be portrayed as a wise and loving God , is nothing more than a decietful disproportionately hateful,, cruel vicious and vengeful tyrant, who would blame the whole of humanity to come, for nothing more than Adam's unwitting, unwilled unknowing appetite for apples.

    Genesis 2

16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Adam had no knowledge, and God did not point out which was the Tree of Knowledge.
Adam did not die that day. God lied.
In the Bible God was deceitful to Adam and Eve, who were, unknowing, incapable and innocent characters.

The Bible is clear. God is the big bad wolf in all this and religious apologists have no choice but to "misunderstand as to what the Bible Teaches". in order to disguise that fact.
Red Riding Hood "Teaches" better. The nasty bad basatrd gets slain.

  2. I was listening to a Christian radio station a while back and this topic came up. It was a call-in format. Some kid, who sounded like he was about 12 called in and asked if his dog would go to heaven, too. The doltish host of the show explained patiently to little Johnny that, no his dog couldn't go to heaven because, unlike us, he was not made in the image of God.

Which makes me wonder... why would God want to look like us?
