A lack of knowledge is a terrible thing... The cost of the monarchy to the UK taxpayer (I am one such) is arnd £35mm officially. A most conservative unofficial estimate is arnd £200mm. So it's not billions of dollars, that's for sure. The benefits of the monarchy, on the other hand, are massive. Are you aware how much additional tourism was generated by both the Diamond Jubilee and the Royal Wedding? Something arnd £3 - 4bn, according to some estimates I've seen. At any rate, no point arguing, really... It's not your country, so, unless America wants to tell some more people how to do things, we'll do just fine with Her Majesty, thank you .
Ha, he's a pompous idiot, IMHO... But he's working for an American network, pontificating on American TV, 'cause that's what he gets paid for. I guess it's what a lot of US peeps want, otherwise he wouldn't be there, no?
Actually there was a petition to have him departed, 109,334 signatures so far. In June 2013, Piers Morgan Live garnered an average 121,000 viewers in the targeted demographic.
The Queen is not even a limey. She is German. She has Nazis as ancestors. She should be deported to Guantanemo, put on trial and made to answer for their war crimes. God bless Israel and the USA.
This is a quote taken from the last paragraph of Andrew Holleran's novel, "Nights in Aruba". It seems apropos here: "...just as we can look at Neptune and say it is covered with liquid nitrogen, or Venus and see a mantle of hydrochloric acid, so it seems to me that were one to look at Earth from afar one would say it is covered completely in Ignorance."
Yes and the correlation between it and religiosity is quite obvious, both on a worldwide scale and and US-wide scale. The wealth and intelligence of a country is also highly correlated with religiosity. Because, bottom line, one has to be pretty dumb to believe that crap.
