If you do not trade this fund, you may have to wait a year to get out even! There is nothing wrong with ringing the register. You did the right thing Tommy B! I was involved with this radioactive crap in 2002-2005 ... averaged down, then averaged out and made over 35%. It was not worth the agita, it only prices once a month. This is a pretend hedge fund with HUGE expenses. DO NOT get involved unless you can average in and/or hold it 1-3 years. el surdo
Thank you Surdo. Pretend hedge fund? Does this mean it takes on the risk of a hedge fund but does not have to say it is a hedge fund? It is a managed futures. You made 20%? but it was not worth the upset to you? 20% is good to me. But I understand that for a 'managed plan' you had to manage it yourself to make the money you made. Is this waht your are saying? So you paid high management fees for a managed plan to make a good profit, but you had to do the work yourself to make the money? No managenent for the fees?
The reported numbers are "net", after expenses/performance fees. You can do quite well with this fund, just be aware of the expenses, and volatility, it only prices once a month, so timing is everything. surdo
I agree nothing wrong with ringing the register Surdo, as you say You should enjoy your profits! You had good timing on realizing your gains. I thought you had good advice about staying in 1 to 3 years. I took this to mean while waiting for a trend, there is sometimes a big drawdown with this fund, all the while during choppy or sideways times, the fees are also being taken from the capitol. So this fund is not for those who wish immediate gains, but have the patience to wait and not be discouraged if they are in a drawdown.
The ride from 1363.75 to 1083.58 was kinda special in 2003! I doubled down 2X and got out @ 1730.29. The most recent NAV is 2141.45!
