what·a·bout·ism definition: the act or practice of responding to an accusation of wrongdoing by claiming that an offense committed by another is similar or worse I would prefer to take as much of a hands off approach in other countries as possible, but I understand why we're sending weapons to Ukraine. We don't want Putin to have success expanding Russia and end up turning into Hitler. That could lead to a nuclear world war with devastating consequences. I'm okay with allowing an American citizen to sit in a foreign prison for a crime they committed. I'm not okay with sitting idly by as WW3 starts. To each their own I guess.
And Russia isn't one of them, so while she wasn't wrongfully detained, the sentence was clearly to exert leverage. As to Russia dude, he was brought out of retirement via the sting, judge said he wouldn't be able to deliver the weapons but had to hand down the bare minimum under Bush's "everyone we don't like is a terrorist" clause.
Well your belief system is fucked up then. It's very easy to see the positive in this story. Ya I know, you guys are obsessed with military shit and hyper aggression; guess what, Russia wasn't playing ball. A little of your own medicine really. It took you guys forever to get two Canadians out of China. And yes, it was the US holding it up. Put Ivanka in that prison. How long does she stay there ? How dare you deem to put a price on the American rescued and their life. Show some respect don't act like one of the low life's on here that jumped all over this story because she's a successful black woman who apparently speaks her mind.
it's not ideal....dude will likely be put to work to deliver weapons to the UA front via China/NK/pick your poison.
WTF are you talking about....... we released a guy wh o supports killing Americans and selling weapons to our enemies in order to bring back Griner who had some cannabis oil??? Russia hosed us on that deal... I cant believe you guys are so happy Griner is free but care s little at what cost. Griner was not convicted of trumped up espionage charges... she pleaded guilty to her crime... not the same thing at all..
I trust a "guilty" plea from a foreigner in Russia as much as I trust a Putin "peace deal" As to: These aren't mutually exclusive.
Griner did have the cannabis oil. She did not dney having them, but forgot she packed them going to Russia. She said it was a mistake and did not intend to bring it in, she never said "That's not mine, it was planted" The unreasonable part was NOT the conviction or hte plea, it was the sentence of 9 years. The media kept saying allegedly had cannabis oil but Griner said she had the oil in her luggage. What was outrageous was her getting 9 years for a crime most people get let off or a few months only or simply get kicked out. So I still dont understand why people want to claim Russia made up the charge or it was not real...it was the sentencing for the crime she committed that was cruel but Griner. Whelan's charges were never proven and he is being held for years already. Bout's charges are real and quite serious.
