Changing market's won't help your flawed methodology. Grains are less forgiving than YM. I've been trading Corn for three decades (my Dad was a local in the CBOT corn pit in the early 1960's.) To make money in Corn you need to know new crop/old crop spreads, relationships to Soybeans and these day's one must have a strong working knowledge of options. Futures are a small part of the story. You boy's don't speak Greek. Money can be made though. Just today I picked up $6000 on day trades and another $3,000 on a covered call position. You all can read my journal: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=90873 I wish you and Alex luck. You'll need it.
Greetings, I appreicate the cynical words of wisdom. Alex has been trading corn since 1970. We are not changing markets. The primary one is still the dow YM. Every now and then Alex will initiate a swing on corn however. He's been doing this for awhile but has not alerted the service. Today I made 108 points on the YM with Alex's help. As usual I posted the entries before and alerted to stop and target points. Not after the fact, in hindsight like some of these places I see. This can not be pure luck. So I'm happy with the methodology. I'm content with our join rate, our customer retention and the trades. People in the room can benefit, the cynical skeptics can stay out. We dont need that kind of negative energy.
So what's a whale of a pit trader like you doing hanging out on ET all day? Gotta love the Internet. Legend in your own mind.
Algorithm, Are you sure you want to know the answer to that question I usually do not trade after 3pm. I tend to make good profit in the morning then give it back in the afternoon. After years of keeping journals I realized this. So I do my emails, ET posts and other things after 3pm. After I got up over 100 pts I stopped at about 12:30 est. Over trading is the bain of many traders. Just because the market is open, doesn't mean you need to be in a position. You'll learn this sooner or later I hope. no offense meant, but corn since 1970??? seems odd in light of this: Alex Wasilewski aka AlexLW our head trader in the live room and co-founder has a rich and eclectic background that might more easily have been described by what he has not done. He has never sat upon a mountain top and counseled Ringo Starr, never sacked Bart Starr, and never danced with any of the stars. He has done everything else. He has been a NYC cab driver during his college days at Manhattan College in the Bronx NY. Rudolph Giuliani graduated two years before Alex but they may have bumped into each other at the Pinewood. Alex later owned a NYC taxi medallion and relates the awe of listening to Wall Street power traders talking business in the back of the cab. A few of them took him on the floor of the NY Stock Exchange where he got his first exposure to reading the Big Tape. Among the other businesses Alex owned was a cocktail lounge on Long Island, an over the road tractor trailer freight hauling business and more recently a Budget Blinds window treatment franchise. In law enforcement and banking, Alex was a Suffolk County NY police officer, an I.R.S. auditor, and an accountant for the Federal Reserve Bank of NY
Yes.. He traded it when he was a broker at Merrill Lynch. There must be a record somewhere. lol you guys are a trip sometimes. Getting soar because a guy has had a good amount of professions. He definitely does have a diverse background. Then again hes a lot older then myself. I've had about the same amount of jobs. I was just never happy until I started trading. I must not have that complacent gene that makes people stay at dead end jobs for years on end, wishing for a better tomorrow instead of acting on it. See ya tomorrow. P.S. Alex's personal office number is 610 948 9770 if you want to have a more in depth discussion on corn trading. All calls welcome. Cajun
