  1. you can have great abs without ever doing 1 sit up.

seeing your abs is about not having fat, not working the ab muscles.

ab exercises just work the muscle. if you want them bigger, then do exercises. but most people would look great if they just lost their fat.

  2. good point but I don't know if i exactly agree with that.....take a look at the starving people in africa.......I wouldn't call their abs to die for would you?

They have no fat in their stomachs and also no muscle.....looks pretty bad.......

  3. that's because they're so lacking in correct diet, they have no muscle.

if you eat a good enough diet to maintain your muscle, but just lose the fat covering your ab muscles, you will look great without ever doing 1 sit up.

this is the truth. all these ab machine commercials on tv are extremely misleading.

  4. but let's not forget that you are a runner so you're working your ab muscles every day....it is true that if YOU lost all your fat you'd have some HOT abs........(assuming you have fat to lose...lol)

but i understand what you are saying......if you want great abs don't focus on working ab muscles but rather on losing fat from your stomach (i guess you can do that by running which works your ab muscles anyways).

    thanks for the advice

  5. true, running works the ab muscles somewhat, but its affect on size is minimal. i run all the time and my leg muscles aren't huge from running.
yes, first i would say lower your body fat %. btw, you can't just lose fat from your stomach. it comes off all over gradually. and i can tell you, for men, the VERY LAST place it comes off is your lower abs. you can not lose fat from individual places without lowering your overall body fat %, short of liposuction.

after you lower your body fat % and can see your abs defined (you have to get REALLY low to see them all), if you want your ab muscles to look bigger, then do ab exercises. something like a crunch machine where you can progress higher with weight would work best. but don't forget, if you want to make muscles grow, you need to eat extra calories and the right amount of protein, too.

  6. If I had to spend much time with some of those people there would be a risk of death.

  8. check out this awesome site i found. i have no relation to it.

    http://www.proteinfactory.com

i buy a lot of protein powder since i lift weights and don't eat meat. 30-50% of my calories come from protein each day and it's expensive. i've been buying naturade protein powder because it doesn't have artificial flavoring crap in it.

anyway, at this site, you can order all kinds of protein you want (without extra junk in it), by the pound (can even mix protein type %), and it's cheap. i haven't ordered from them yet, but this looks great to me.

  9. I read somewhere that most of those protein supplements were nothing but powdered milk.

  10. well, i wouldn't say it's impossible some reject company would do that, but it's definitely not the case for all.

    from proteinfactory.com:

"At the Protein Factory you will be able to buy protein at a price never before heard of in the supplement industry. The prices available to you are what the manufacturers charge the supplement companies and sometimes even lower!"

"The Protein Factory offers the highest quality protein available today. Our proteins are pure, without any added ingredients such as sweeteners, flavorings, and confectionery ingredients. Our proteins come directly from the manufacturers of the protein themselves, this way we can be sure we are getting the best. We also can provide the certificate of analysis and specification sheets for each of the proteins. No other supplement company can match our quality, and we can prove it!"

btw, check this out: http://www.proteinfactory.com/proteinworksheet.htm
