Public Hedge Funds?

Discussion in 'Trading' started by garfangle, Sep 4, 2003.

  1. Does anyone know if there are hedge funds that are publicly traded? Can they even be public by law? If so, it would be an intersting way for an average investor to get the performance of the fund.

  2. Hence the difference between the words mutual and hedge.

  3. Investment partnerships can be either public or private. I am talking about firms w/ publicly owned listed stock.

to my knowledge hedge funds can't be publically traded, they aren't regulated as much as other funds, most only allow high net worth clients, there are companies that call themselves holding companies that are publically traded that invest in the markets, but not like hedge funds , there's a specific sec. holding company act for those companies
