Providing source when quoting

It would be nice if ET could implement a policy that you need to provide the link to a story or information being used so that all reading know WHERE the info came from. This is a very common requirement among most forums, and perhaps it's written in the ET bylawas somewhere, but it's never enforced.

A simple link to where the story in question came from would be useful.

Good idea, but I think it sounds like an awesome way to let spammers in.
