I don't know the answer to numbers one or two, but my cousin has been dealing with child support issues. They can take up to 1/3 of your income, which by the way if you get married again is the combined income of you and your new wifey. If you start making more money and the ex finds out about it in most cases she can take you to court and ask for more money and get it. I don't know how spousal support works either, but this is what my cousin is having to deal with in terms of child support.

Back when I was young marriage was the norm. I've been married for 61 years and don't regret it. You make your life choices and if they are not catastrophic honor them. Never act in haste.
I knew my present wife for at least 5 years before marriage. It a big event so don't act in haste as most of you guys do in trading. It should be entered into as an expected very long term relationship.
If you think you need PU you got the wrong woman.
Just be sure you are acting logically and not emotionally. Be very sure.

I don't know if this is true or not, and I couldnt find the data when I spent half a second looking but it does make sense to me. Your mom is obviously your first female role model, and the idea of a woman turning into her mommy later in life is true. What I read is that if a girls mom has been with the same man all her life, never got divorced, worked stuff out etc then vs a girl who's mom did get divorced you are much safer with the one who's mom was in a stable relationship with her father all her life. The one who's mom went from man to man is something like 5 times more likely to get divorced.

  4. Protect your ASSets fools. All you need to do is nail one huge Bull/Bear market in your lifetime to be rich.

Don't end up fools like Paul McCartney, Russell Simmons, Steven Spielberg, and millions of other guys.

  5. So lets say, for example, if John Paulson was divorced and had a kid.

When he made 2 billion in 2007, if he had a kid and had to pay 1/3 of his income as child support then his kid would be entitled to 666 million?

That's why I asked: is child support based on need? All a child really needs is 20k a year to meet basic needs. Even if its a rich kid going to private school with private tutors and all - then maybe 100k a year. But 666 million? I think that would be insane.

  7. According to Save The Children, kids can survive on $28.00 a month. What's with the twenty grand?
Anyway, if you have kids and the marriage ends in divorce, what good are the kids to you? Child support, visitations that ruin your free time, having to talk to the woman who divorced you all the time because of joint custody. When the time comes, maybe you'll want to think about drowning them - then you wouldn't have to worry about any of this.

  10. You've got to be incredibly stupid to marry. It's the worst financial decision, worse than gambling
