Protecting Assets From a Divorce

  1. 30% per year performance is definitely nothing to sneeze at, if there is risk control (check Sharpe Ratio)

If you are a piker with only $5,000 - of course you'll say 30% is nothing.

  2. LMAO :p :D

The "little things" are what bring the magic into the relationship, assuming there is any to begin with.

  3. <i>"try showing up in divorce court with a "Parting Gift" instead of your financials... "</i>

I did show up in divorce court. My wife = companion of 13yrs and I walked into the local county clerk's office together, filed papers for divorce and went out for lunch together straight from there. She bought, if I recall correctly.

We split assets fairly, she went into a solid career path and continued working with me (remote) for some time afterwards.

Been there, done that... did it with a better character of person than you happened to choose. My sincere condolences for your ignorance on how to pick life partners in the first place.

  4. You guys need to read up on David DeAngelo and Ross Jeffries then you can stop this WUSS thread. You should control your wife/girlfriend's world. Whether she is a waitress or surgeon, you call the shots !!! Alternatively get yourself a mail order bride from SE Asia.

if you don't fully trust her, you don't fully love her. Don't get married then...or get married to a rich girl...my ex ended up with a fully paid house just because I felt so bad for leaving him...it's not that uncommon.

  6. Since you told me to prove something and I asked you the same, I am glad to see your anemic idea of "proof"

  7. I find this the perfect thread to raise the following issue:

In the academic environment (post secondary education) we are taught we are free to express our differing opinions as long as we do it with respect.

I think we can all agree we can sit in Economics 101 and debate protectionism vs. taffifs without calling each other assholes because our opinions differ. The same holds true regardless of the subject or our opinion. Whether it's religion, economics, politics, etc. we can debate the issue in a classroom without feeling ridiculed.

So why then can't people in public forums debate or discuss an issue without resorting to childish behavior? Why are persons with differing opinions riduculed to such an extent?

Maybe your experience is that marriage sucks; that's fine. Feel free to tell us why it did not work for you. Maybe others can benefit from your experience. And please tell us why it did work for you. Hopefully many more can learn how to make their marriage better.

But this childish behavior which is predominant in almost every public forum on almost every website either needs to go or maybe we should just get rid of them all. Which is it?

oops, I just read half of this thread...I'm taking back what I wrote before.....you're obviously not in love and not looking for one....you're probably smart and manipulative enough to come up with a good reason why you can't marry her...at least for now (I know 2 wealthy men that did the same thing for the same reason, including my dad) you can have kids and dump her later if you wish...otherwise, swiss bank account (btw I can't trade US markets from my swiss account, despite that I'm not a US citizen, only living here) and trust fund for your future kids should protect at least some of your assets.
I don't want to judge you...but I must admit that some of the posts in this thread are very, very sad :(
