My children go to a school with metal detectors and armed security. It will be interesting to see what all the Prius-driving parents will say when the kids come back to school after the first of the year. Should be an interesting discussion. Why should our children have these protections but not kids at all schools?

Damn 666 you're kinda dense on this. I agree with putting guards in schools and/or principles being armed. Typical republican, can't stop the arguing even when there is agreement.
If we knew for certain it would stop there, we might be open to discuss it. But it won't, and so we aren't.
So-called "gun control" is just an incremental way of getting to the end game -- total gun confiscation. It's no secret. Everybody knows it on both sides of the issue. Honest people are willing to come out and say it.

We don't know any thing for sure about the future, except for death. The inability of the right to talk is a big part of the problem in congress right now. Every issue can't be 100% or nothing at all.
