I'd be the idiot you see on TV refusing to pay my property taxes if I had one lick of damage. I would.

The government will be glad to take your property for non-payment of taxes and auction it off.

They'd probably buy him a bus ticket to Chicago.

So I think you’re getting out past your skis. Riots are destructive and riots have happened throughout American history. I showed you an article going through the most destructive riots. You’re going to believe what you believe and you somehow think linking liability to cities somehow will force mayors and police chiefs into taking a hardline approach is misplaced as well.

What I’m saying is all of this talk is stemming from a narrative that somehow civil unrest and rioting is worse today than ever but it’s not true. If anything law enforcement has a much better command over this stuff today than in bygone eras and that is why they don’t have to resort to brute force. But this is the narrative that somehow America is worse off today than ever when the exact opposite is true. Sometimes acting with intelligence means not engaging but corralling is the better choice for all sides when there is no ideal outcome.

Can you name a riot in the U.S. prior 1960 where the police and government did not take a hard-line approach?

Shiat -- in previous riots in the U.S. history they had the government bring in cannon and gattling guns to fix the situation.

  7. I am not 100% on board with the premise of the question. You have to look state by state and often policy by policy sometimes, but overall there have been massive payouts for damage resulting from civil unrest around the country.

I am not up for going too far into the weeds right now but the language in many of the policies refers to acts of war and insurrections versus just civil unrest.

Oh no doubt the local law enforcement, state government would do all kinds of forceful countermeasures back in the day. My point is it didn’t result in less destruction and certainly not less lives lost.

However, I am not so sure how the Tulsa race riots ended and id law enforcement squashed that with force.

*It did end with national guard AFTER more than 35 square blocks were destroyed.
