Prop options firms

Discussion in 'Prop Firms' started by Trader82, Aug 20, 2007.

  1. To Mr. Moose.

I know Maverick, I respect Maverick, I know his Firm. I strongly suggest that you take this one step at a time, visit him in Chicago and see if he'll work with you (I know he knows what he's doing). This business takes "doing" not just a lot of "learning."

How you decide to do it, is of course, up to you.

There will always be time to change paths, join exchanges, start a BD etc. if you decide to in the future.

    All the best,

    Don

  2. Ok, I think I understand what you're saying. That makes sense to me because, whatever you're trading, you're making or losing because of change -- whether that change is volatility, time, delta, etc. Any strategy that is set and forget will not be sensitive to any of those changes.

What is some of the software that successful options traders use? I can see the need for something beyond the relatively simple tools I have with OptionsXpress. I can see the need for software that helps visualize for the 'global thinker' types: giving a picture of how current prices compare with theoretical prices, how premiums are expected to decay with time, portfolio exposure, etc.

What software do the pros use? Thanks again.

  3. I used www.optionvue.com stuff, seemed to be excellent to me, but you should ask Maverick.

Don, could you invite Mr. Maverick74 (for whom I have the utmost respect also) to Vegas for the holiday. He seems to be quite "tightly-wound" in his recent posts.

    Just a thought. :D

I'm actually on vacation now. Ha! And this is me in my relaxed state. You don't want to see me when I get angry. :)

  7. I don't see why you don't talk about you own firm. The topic of the thread is prop option firms so tell us why someone should work for or with your particular group of traders. I know you are an options specialist, but why would someone want to work or learn from your shop, specifically. Thanks. :)

  8. Mav is respecting the rules here at ET i not promoting his firm as he is not a paid sponsor. If you have an interest, you can contact him directly and he is extremely helpful.

  9. Well it is also nice to see some form of ethics especially in this business, but I find it ironic that he is recommending the competition. With all the spam and useless threads on ET I was hoping to get some insight into how he runs his shop. Anyway, as an unbiased trader I can say that Mav is one the best options guys around and I am sure that anyone who worked at his shop would learn alot. Good trading.

  10. I appreciate that, and since I am a "paid sponsor" - I hope that you guys will touch base with Maverick, one way or another. He has always been a respectful (and respected) member of ET. He runs the Chicago office of Vtrader, and, even though we may not always agree on certain aspects of trading, we've been able to discuss any aspect with mutual respect.

(Any chance our politco's could do the same? Oh, I'm sorry, I got stuck in Fantasyland, LOL).

Wow, it's 7 O'clock (Pacific, 10 Eastern) on Saturday of Labor Day Weekend - I'm probably better off here on ET that going out on the streets of Vegas. We're talking over 500,000 visitors this weekend, "what could go wrong" on the streets with a half million drunken tourists, LOL - especially after they've blown all their cash, LOL.

    All the best,

    Don
