Prop firm asking for source code and strategy??

Discussion in 'Prop Firms' started by WinstonTJ, Nov 16, 2010.

  1. Poor Don, first Maverick74, and now you. I couldn't stop laughing though, that is a perfect Don impression.

  2. It's always nice having a "discussion" with a ghost, an alias, or whatever - where they 'have no respect" without allowing themselves to be known. Maverick, on the other hand is well known and respected for not hiding behind an alias. Perhaps Propseeker is too, maybe I'm just not in the know.

Reminds of 10 years ago, responding to comments from other "aliases" (thus my signature) - which worked really well over the years....I did my best, responded where I could, and most have become friends/traders/peers etc.

In any event, with 10 years on the board, and hundreds of articles and posts that have been well received, ego intact..... I guess, as Ricky Nelson sang in 1972:

But it's all right now, I've learned my lesson well
You see, you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself
(no comments on the "please yourself" part, LOL).

Or as my grand-kids say "oh well, whatever"

Have a good one...Happy Turkey Day to eveyone.....

  3. Yeah, I have to admit that I too was laughing - if you can't laugh at yourself, then you have no sense of humor.

    Don King Bright -
Others have been creative with their Don Bright satire.

Since everyone across the country is repeating the phrase, "Who is Don Bright?", it is natural that many people have attempted to answer that question. The phrase becomes an expression of helplessness and despair at the current state of the United States. Elite Trader hears a number of legends of Bright before finding the real Don Bright (Bob Bright) and eventually joining his cause, and learning that all of the stories have an element of truth to them.

    And nice things: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showt...25836&highlight=Who+is+Don+Bright#post2525836

I personally don't know the man or his firm but do acknowledge the he tries to be very accurate with any information with reference to any questions asked. He has helped many of the elite traders with direction and discernment of trading knowledge.

I realize he has an entity and is looking for traders but to me an independant firm in Nassau and not related in anyway he goes far above what is necessary for recruiting.

And, since the Holidays are coming up, may as well throw in the "he's a used car salesman" LOL with, you guessed it, me in the Santa suit.

But, "enough about me" - LOL

....come on guys, please take all this in the vein that I am trying to convey - smile, enjoy your families and the Holidays....things aren't all that bad, trading is actually improving (although I'll admit it was a tough few months earlier this year)...

Don (strategy stealer) Bright :) :D

Sounds like you're in need of a good Anger Management class.

Did you wash out at Bright and want to blame someone?

Don gets credit for replying to posts, both those serious and respectful, as well as those such as yours which show your lack of class.

  6. respect is earned.

you lost respect when you spent 5 pages trying to avoid dealing with the fact that you said you share your guys' strategies. i think that's crap, and gave you the opp to explain yourself. you chose not to, and somehow you expect better treatment.

posting pictures of yourself looking like a clown doesn't make you credible. truth has a way of being self-evident, anonymous or not. people do know who i am on this board, but i've always thought socially qualifying myself is a poor excuse for a good argument. maybe you should follow suit.

  7. don't confuse comedy for anger. i like it dry and black. your wit must be above level 10 though to perceive this (scale 0-100).

yea, i washed out at bright and want to blame don. i took my 5k acct to 7k, but then they stole my strategy and frontrunneded me. i'm a sad panda.

class is when you meat adversity with humor and poise. good dry humor. putting lol after you say something not funny does not count.

when don actually answers my question, he will get credit.

  8. Ok, what the heck...almost time for a long weekend.

    1. We share, I do not share private strategies of traders nor any code...period. No more explanation needed. I did try, to no avail it seems, to explain the difference between financial (trading) risk and platform/system risk (up pipe etc.). No one wants to shut down Wall Street, right?

    2. Whaaat? Man, I don't know - just being myself here - always have, always will be. Not trying to win your friendship, just simple chatting....the OP asked about SEC requiring source code, I said I never heard of it...and that we don't ask for it. Many of our "Team Members" share "stuff" - some don't, no big friggin' deal.

If you choose to run your programs someplace, and they ask you what you're doing, you have the choice to move. Our traders, woo choose to share, obviously do trust us...no reason not to.

    Have a good weekend....

    Don

  9. 1. Not true, no way, obviously. This is where credibility comes into play.

    2. See above post.

  10. was it the sad panda part that gave it away? i knew i should've left that out.

very bad spin don, you have very little to gain coming at me. this is about something seriously questionable you said. my credibility is irrelevant as i'm not trying to convince anybody of anything. you, on the other hand, are.

just in case though, the word sarcasm... you should look it up.
