Proof that scalpers can make money

  1. Have you considered making your entries automated and then use some discretion in your exits....i.e. permit them to be overridden manually ?
I am working on that very issue right with Multicharts. It's much less than straightforward because of the need to synchronize the position on the chart with the position at the broker.

My entry mechanism relies heavily on three different software including NT7 to trade. Customized signals from NT7 wouldn't be an issue, but stuff that I used to decipher HFT for intraday movements are nearly impossible to code them and I've to run this software on a different computer system due to high memory usage. That said, the only way to incorporate these parts together is through human eyes.

What you've said is what I've been advising newbies here on day 1 when I joined ET, but most people wouldn't take my words seriously, perhaps it's because I couldn't express my opinions clearly in English.

I hope that through my blotters, they can begin to get the picture that if they want to make money through trading for living, they have to come up with highly reliable setups or else, they'll never make it. I don't want to see those newbies flushing their hard earned money into toilet, especially those who are struggling financially.

  4. Wait a minute here...this is starting to "smell". You said this was backtested or at least forward tested.
How in the heck did you do that with multiple disparate software and hardware platforms ?
Were you able to given the computer "eyes" ?
Sorry to be sarchastic, but wow, this is a huge revelation IMHO.

Manual back and forward testing which took few years to build up stats or else, I'd have been a famous trader by now if I could do those testings quickly using computer.

Other software aren't perfect either. They produce some good and bad signals too, but once I were able to combine them all together which I call a trading system to generate highly reliable setups (from stats that I build), I know it's time for me to come out of my shell to make money. That said, everything works great with scalping setups, while I need to do more works with day/swing trading setups to improve win rate.

Speaking of which, my trading system produces some good mean reversion signals everyday too, but I don't trade those strategies.

  7. ive been away from trading forums for a while. I forgot the term 'set ups'. others that are legendary 'its a lay up', 'no brainer' & 'slam dunk'.

it really is a simple as buy low and sell high or the opposite. I remember the days of watching a 1 minute chart and waiting for everything to line up before hitting the buy button ROFL. then the stomach in knots and staring, waiting to see what happens. goes against you, shall I cut, shall I buy more. ponder.

now I realise all you need to do is find an instrument in a range and buy the dips with sensible money management. traders will always look to complicate. this really is as simple as buying a winter jacket in summer when it's half price.

Yippee...another positive day in all accounts. I'll either update my blotter this weekend or 19th of each month.

Happy Thanksgiving to American friends :)

  9. I'm rooting for you QTrader20 and everything you're saying makes a lot of sense. I do hope you have finally arrived. :)

But, two months and 51 trades is a way too small sample size to draw any meaningful conclusions.

I do hope you're able to keep up your performance and from what you're sharing I don't doubt that you will.

    Best of luck.

  10. Emotional outbursts and posts like this are the precise reason why people won't disclose details about their trading system and share their hard work publicly at a place like this.

    For what purpose?

Those who have something of value generally keep it close to their chest while those who don't just can't stop 'teaching' and preaching.
