A minor bug in the TWS account window:
The expanded view of the sections is not possible to revert, ie. to collapse...

Another nasty but for me important shortcoming of TWS is that it is not possible to show the margin requirement for an order that is sitting in the orderbook.
It shows the MR only for not yet submitted order.
It would be much useful if they could fix that ASAP.

There is even this important shortcoming in TWS regarding informing the trader about the margin impact:
imagine you have many positions in your portfolio and you need to close some of them to make cash available to fullfil margin requirements.
In this scenario it would be useful to know the margin impact of each of the open positions to better decide which positions to close...
There is no information available for the trader

The solution is to add this important functionality to TWS.

PS: don't get me wrong, I don't have this problem atm, but I'm just preparing for such a situation.

I've created a new thread for such TWS bugs / shortcomings / wish lists:

Keep it up and you'll be there in no time. You won't need anyone else money. I have found over the years trading, when one gets impatient and wants bigger faster... one gets nailed. So go slow and go smart.

And whatever underlying stocks you are using to do this.... you better make sure those stocks are the ying and yang of each other because one market hiccough holding the wrong stocks at the wrong time... can wipe out lots of gains. Be diversified. I lost $57,000 in one afternoon in 2007 being cocky. Stupid. Never again.

From the profits of this week we'll fund a 2nd IB account to be traded part-time by my trading partner.
As said he has a day job, but since we are in Euroland he can trade it from about 17:00 to 22:00 CET (11:00 to 16:00 US ET), and currently he is on leave for about 4 weeks.
These are the first steps of our planned joint future trading/investment firm...
We are currently researching Latvia and Estonia as a possible place for the firm, to quickly accumulate capital by legally saving/avoding taxes...
Previously Dubai was planned, but I think the above is maybe better for us because it is nearer to our home countries (yes, we are international :)), and the said countries are in the EU and the Schengen area...
We even think about registering also further firms (or subsidiaries) in our home countries, so that we can have convincing excuses if we travel much between the countries... :D

As much as I'd like to believe you marsman, something just doesn't sound right. You talk with so much confidence, and yet you've been trading live a few days. If you have such an amazing system that you are so proud of, why wait this long to finally try trading it live?

Also.. why the need for all this talk about capital and moving money around, and etc. If you can turn 10k into 20k in a couple of weeks, and do this again and again, you really have no need to post or even add another penny. You have no need to even come on here and say all of this stuff. What are you looking to gain with this journal? Most people in your shoes would just shut the fuck up, count their money, and lead a wonderful life. You're up to something, or perhaps just trolling everyone here.

...of course these are initially tiny 1 to 2 man firms... :) maybe even just 0.5 man firms... :)

Hmm. I don't know what you mean. Since last Friday I already trade live. So, what's wrong with that?
It just took a long time because none of the other persons (some even here at ET) I had contacted wanted to believe me (I was explictly looking for a trading partnership).
But hey, that's life, forget these losers/suckers... :) Now for me they are just waste in space :)

I enjoy ET :) Such a public journal also helps me to control/discipline myself by documenting my progress, much like my trading partner.
OTOH, I know some others are uncomfortable with my high profits when they have to justify their micky-mouse profits to their bosses, clients.
But hey, that's not my business... :D
Wait, maybe we could make a deal: gimme 100k and I stop :D ROTFL!
