Progressive Stupidty

  1. There is some misleading reporting in this story. It seems a few groups amended their bylaws to say that no speakers who support Israel will be invited by the groups to speak at their functions.

Multiple student groups at the UC Berkeley School of Law passed a bylaw on August 21 stating that they would never invite any speakers that support “Zionism, the apartheid state of Israel, and the occupation of Palestine.”

So there is no Jew free zoning going on.

However the measures are still pretty stupid because it is taking a stand against any speaker who supports Israel and by association any member who also supports Israel.. The bullshit rationale was to protect Palestinian students but that is a crock of horseshit. There was no threat to Palestinian law students (how many could there be) if a speak is pro Isreael for any reason.

This is a really bad precdent for the law school to allow. If the Palestinian Law Student Association wants to make a policy it is free to do so no matter how close minded.... but to make a movement to get other unrelated student groups to adopt the same political stance is exactly what a law school should stand against.

This is what happens when a school is so afraid to say anything to its students.

Look at the other groups tha agreed to the by law change, wtf do they have to do with Israel and Palestine... what if a pro Israel speaker comes to talk about woman's rights or a topic regarding Asians.

Berkeley Law Muslim Student Association, Middle Eastern and North African Law Students Association, Womxn of Color Collective, Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, Queer Caucus, Community Defense Project, Women of Berkeley Law, and Law Students of African Descent.

We are becoming a country of fucktards

  3. yeah look who first proposed it... the fact they got several other groups to adopt the measure should have set off alarm bells... in a LAW SCHOOL....

  5. Time for those who scream for transgenders to compete with no restrictions to get their shit handed to them.

In this story, the state had rules in place that would allow transgender athletes to compete only after a year of hormone therapy or whatever procedures to even things out. Then they did away with them and this athlete is basically no different than they were the year before competing as a boy.... This is literally the case of a boy competing against girls in every way and no one can say anything for fear of being labelled a bigot.

You can be open and all inclusive as you want but you cannot pretend that there is no harm in allowing boys to swap in one year and compete with girls and take away girl opportunities. I woudl expect this to come to a head with a TITLE XI type of challenge because there is no issue with a girl transitioning to a boy and competing with boys because she/he will never be able to do it. But the other way is extremely unfair to girls who already face an uphill battle getting equal treatment for college scholarships in sports.

I would hope so. So why does it happen? If most Democrats, and certainly most independents and Republicans disagree with it, why do people allow it to continue?

Nobody stopped the trans community from joining the gay rights/gay marriage movement. My guess is the homosexual community is small so gay rights activists allowed the trans community to join their movement so they could have bigger numbers. They should not have as gay equal /marriage rights and trans going to any bathroom they want and cheating in womens sports are two totally different issues.

  9. it is extremely local politics and politicians are still figuring out how to handle it. There are.global guidelines to make it.fair but this example they did.away with them and that is most puzzling.

Still this is still a huge exception to the norm and the ridiculous ness of it will ensure it.does.not become.more.common.
