Thanks Prof... As you certainly noticed, The Erg Line & Histogram are from the same fractal (49 Volume Bar Chart), simply because I don't know how to combine the Line from one fractal with the Histogram of another in one single chart, as you are doing in Multicharts. I'm thus watching the 343 Volume Bar Chart on a separate screen to gauge the overall strength.
ProfLogic, Here are two trades I made today using your method (or variation thereof). Comments? It doesn't show on chart, but the start is 2 buys, close trades, 2 sells, close trades. I had to go to bed, but obviously now as I look at the chart, the second trade, when I closed the sells, should have been a reversal. That would have been the "perfect trade" per your method, right? My above two trades were only intended to be scalps anyway. I had limited time. Thanks for your help! John
Sorry I can't help you merge the two charts but in Ensign, when we used that program, we didn't have that ability. We stopped using Ensign when we moved more into Swing Trading and monitoring more markets. You have a great start though.
As scalps they were fine but recognise the last buy as a longer term reversal due to shorter term price strength turning up.
ProfLogic, Over three years ago, you started a swing trading journal on this forum that I was following pretty closely, but you asked the mods to close it after a couple of weeks. If it's not too much to ask, is there anyway you can start a new journal? I am much more interested in swing/position trading as of late. I assume you get your entries off of the 16807 volume charts for those types of trades? Or is it 117649?
I'll see what I can do in the morning about posting my weekly set-ups. I'm on my way to church now for my son's Christmas play. Man do I love the Holidays.
SWING TRADES Week of December 15th, 2008 These are the current Swing and Fast Swing Trades setting up in the following charts. Pull up the charts and read the oscillations for fine tuning your entry. These may not match your charts due to data idiosyncracies, data holes and data providers. Trade your own charts and what they each are telling you. 1. Legend: PF = Price Failure HO = Histogram Oscillation O = Open NIP = Not in Prime (Extreme Level) ^ - Long v - Short Because we view set-ups from oscillations, sometimes these oscillations that start off as a set-up migrate to negate the potential trade. I will review these throughout the week beginning with these later today.
26 of the 63 above posted short Swing set-ups were energy related, crude and heating oil. I received a few PM's curious as to why. I myself was skeptical at those short crude set-ups but you can't argue with the technicals when they are done accurately. I'll post the detailed results for this week on Saturday or Sunday when I post the next weeks list.
Anyone notice today and this week that the ergodic isn't working very well, for example, it went from green to red early this morning (well above the upper line), then stayed red all day while the ES trended up (2410 volume bar chart). If my results are not typical let me know, problem might be on my end.
