The reason I started this poll is that I wondered if people with my same interests whould share the same features as mentioned. I figured most would be profitable since people who have lost have quit elitetrader. I figured most would be republican as they are normally more interested in making money for themselfs. I figured that most would be religious because most are republican. I read a poll put out by a right wing republican group that there is only 1% of the U S population that is non religious. Two out of Three is not bad, wish my trading could be as good. jj
What a selfish reason to start this poll, just to confirm you will be having good luck? F@#$ religious and political men and women.
geeeez.... the hell is this? have they stopped requiring people to undertake research in earning their phds these days? "its gotta be god".. lol. what a load of crap. couple it up with BS claims like this: (fuckin BS dude! you started translating english after learning it for 3 months? yeaaaaahhhh.....(what were u translating? "Spotski Goes to School"?)) and all those "communism worked" and "i have a system with 98% accuracy" and "i use 3d charts" and "EMH is true"... and you force my hand in summing you up as being completely full of shit.
those polls really only answers the question of belief in a 'god' (whatever a 'god' is...) and real figure of god non-believers is slightly higher, at about 3-5%... of course, the number of people who just claim that "yeah, i believe in god" is far, far, far greater than people who actually follow any particular religion... those dudes are definitely on the decline... obviously america still has a long way to go to catch up to the rest of the west in rejecting religion, but it's a start. qdz, nice to see there's something i can agree with you on
Wow, I am very hesitant to post here - I have some thoughts and my beliefs, but the fury of this thread and the nature of the disharmony here is incredible. To go back and forth in black and white print puts one at a disadvantage not found in a face-to-face discussion. When you cannot see the other's eyes, you don't really know what is in their heart. Bottom line is - those who know Peace, know it... and those who don't, still have time. That said, there are some interesting conclusions that can be drawn from the poll, and I say this totally tongue-in-cheek. 1 - religious democrats don't lose 2 - you are 5 times more likely to be profitable if you are republican 3 - a non-religious republican is 3 times more likely to lose than a non-religious democrat 4 - 88% of religious republicans are profitable 5 - a religious republican has a 25% better chance of being profitable than a non-religious one 6 - a non-religious democrat has a 150% better chance of being profitable than a religious democrat.
This was actually a meaningful poll and I agree with inandlong. First, I've read that religion in general can be defined as harmonial relationship with the Above, Around and Self. Some say it's belief but then there won't be a religion because belief can be said as opinion or base of thought and it's different between each other. Traders have to seek a style of how they would profit through the market. In a way, a trader has to find a objective relationship with the market and self. In another words, a trader has to find a way to relate itself's decision through different styles, techniques or analysis. The market shows us the result purely from the quality of relationship. Market is just there unbiased, fair, and competent. We bring the results to ourselves by how we decide to relate to it. Same can be said with what religions are saying. Karma, Cause and Effect, "Thou shall sow and it shall reap", Reincarnation and etc. Seeking not only in trading but in life can give you advantages just based on these rational thoughts.
Religion can and is defined as anything those defining it want to define it as . That's just another reason amongst many why it is and should become, more and more irrelevant. Religion requires you to worship and subordinate yourself. Politicians want your vote and will change their view points over long or short time periods to suit what they want to get. To trade the market you don't have to worship it or agree with it, you stand before it with your principles and are judged accordingly. There's nothing like the harsh reality and indifference in the market for wakening up any vestiges of common sense lying dormant in some hazy, bottomless, dappled existence of religious fantasy or political naivety and hurtling a conscious state back into the essential hard headed pragmatism of survival.
Humility rules. Service rules. Faith... rules. One can awaken at 6am each morning...religiously. Or brush your teeth three times a day... religiously. Or trade the same way every time... religiously. The term "religion" is useless except to define a doctrine of belief and practice. More appropriate is the term spirituality. This too, is broad but more accurately describes one's relationship with God, because that relationship occurs via the Holy Spirit. Life is harsh. One doesn't need to participate in the markets to discover that. A quick drive through many downtown streets to see the cold and hungry huddled in an alley will provide all the awakening one needs. Believing in God is not about reason, it's about Faith. To some, like myself, the existence of God is "a priori". I heard the Word, knew it was true, end of story for me. Others have travelled a different path to discover their faith. Many times that path is harsh and led to a broken personal spirit. Dissenters and doubters offer a million different reasons for their sentiment. Believers in God, those who have faith in their heart of His existence, regardless of their belief in Jesus, do not have 'a million different reasons for their sentiment.' They have one. They know in their hearts that God exists. None of the arguments against the existence of God make sense to the heart of a believer. Non-believers can say "yeah but..." all day long, and the believer recognizes that he doesn't have the answers to satisfy man's reason.... All of the harsh talk and vulgar language and anger and frustration mean nothing.... because it is not about reason. It is all about Faith.
