Profit in demo & loss in real

Discussion in 'Forex' started by Peter brandley, Dec 4, 2012.

  1. I've seen this over and over again in traders transitioning to live for the first time.

When they transition to live they become over-conservative with profit taking and then ignore losses because they refuse to admit they were wrong.

The best thing in this case I've seen is to reduce the capital for each trade until the emotional fear is gone and you manage trades more in line with the demo results.

  2. Slippage - your strategy only works in "theory" - not in reality.

The ability to live well and die well - it is one and the same science.

    1. Start real money trading only with price money ,which you win in
    paper game competition's

    Example's -

Occasionaly link belov provided paper money competition with real money price or real money account as price for 1-3 place's in paper
    money competitions

    http://www.myfxbook.com/

Exist another's competitions in different countries

    http://www.trader-2013.com/coba-depotcontest/web/views/index.xhtml

    2. If you won price money -

atleast 50 % of them you must buy
things or service ,which make pleasure for you

( Notebook ,Bottle of good Cognac ,Dinning in restaurant &)

    3. No more as 50% of price money ,which you win in paper money competions ( can be by different competition's 50 000 $ for 1 place )

but no more as industry standart account = 2000 $
    ###############################
    ( better 2 attempt's ,each with 1000 $)

you can use for real trading

Depend from objective ,trading strategy ,initial capital and software

    In some case's -

    limited objective's - End of trading by 50 000 $ account
strategy ,which not used scalping ,small quantities of operations
small initial capital ( not more as 1000 -2000 $)
high liquid market ( stock index ,forex )
good paper money platform ( web based FXCM demo
    evaluated as good)

paper money result can be some relevant to real money result

But ,that depend from great quantities of attempt's

Sucess in 1 attempt with good result in paper money is not relevant
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More as 100 attempt's ( fortune ,dispersion of positive
and negative result's ,market conditions &) are more relevant

    Your respectfully

  6. Why in hell lose all that online, I just don't understand how people do this to themselves. Harsh lessons in this story.

Trading sim is only good for the practice with platform and learning order entry exit tools. Trade with micro positions in MT4 acct live to build up live trading experience, that is once you feel you have good system to trade. Better to lose $1K in micro forex account over a few months than kill $10K in futures account. You do have to lose money to learn how to be profitable. Build experience with managable losses is better than 5 years of sim trading.

    #######################

    Better two attempt's ,each 1000 $

    2. Not start any trading activity by any not public noted company ,which isstrong regulated by SEC,CFTC,FSA,BAFIN &

    Examples' -Ameritrade/Thinkorswim ,Schwab/Optionsxpress, FXCM

    ------------------

Only best platform as Optionsxpress,Thinkorwim ,FXCM

and both version downloading and web based for worst network conditions

  8. I don't care what platform used, you will take losses to learn discretionary trading. Platform used is low on priority list when learning how to trade. Good trader can make money with almost any platform. I can make money on FXCM platform or MT4 or others, that is no obstacle to profits.

A learning trader can use whatever platform they wish but they need to stick with simple first as experience is developed.
