I will say that I heard Darren speak to another group about two months ago, and I was very impressed. Although I had done a lot of pair trading previously, along with a lot of study and reading on the subject, I found his presentation to be very interesting and comprehensive with several ideas that I had not given a lot of thought to before that time.

It was well worth the time, and I suspect this one will be similar.

I regret that I won't be able to make this event, as I'd like to hear Darren speak again.

  2. Greg and the TICK3R black box:

how has this system been performing. black box trading intrigues me, but is his system consistently profitable?? what kind of size does it trade and what is its expectation??

  5. Greg, although only a couple of months into the testing is consistently profitable (using small 500-2000 shares) at this time. He'll be at the event to answer questions.

    don't buy the hype...

for his "black box" the reason why only small positions are used is because of LIQUIDITY.

wake up folks! SLIPPAGE (esp. on the NYSE) is going to kick the *&! out of any system.

  7. 500-2000 shares is a fair amount to make some good money....and he is still testing this particular program. NYSE "Price Improvement" certainly helps, and we have good solid markets on the big cap stocks we trade.

(Don't get me wrong, I'm as surprised as the rest of you that this is working so well already).

    what I am talking about.

"price improvement?" Are you kidding? If you are on the right side with the specialist at the open or close, then you have price improvement, POSSIBLY. However, if you have have trading in the past 24 months, you are aware that there is only price unimprovement throughout the day.

Is this system traded only for OO and MOC orders? I think not.

Good trading... don't accept any merits unless you know the facts.

I'm surprised anyone would tout a black box to gather new traders.

Successful Program Traders are experts in programming, like myself. They know black boxes have a limited shelf life and require constant tweaking to trade the market.

  9. This is just one part of the show, and of course, it needs constant human monitoring. Greg Rickard is one of the original players at SLK/Goldman, and has a great understanding of the markets.

I totally agree, we need to constantly adapt, technologically and strategically.

I am going to try and see if I can get on a flight out there. It will be a great feat as it will require me to almost get off one plane and get on another...

Don, do I have to preregister - I may just show up...Is that OK?
