Problem is not TWS self, rather the IBKR servers...

If you have troubles with the slowness of TWS i can tell you my feeling about the source of the problem is their servers... In the Premarket i don't have any slowness/lags or "market data connection lost" error. But when the market opens, TWS is just a torture to use...

Market open is zany under normal circumstances; now it's utter insanity.

I also have a lot of issues with TWS being too slow. Sometimes it takes 1 minute to place a options/combo order even when I know exactly what I need to do. Just everything works in slow motion, it's ridiculous.
From my experience, TWS gets slower the longer it's being used, as if memory is filling up with data. There may also be an issue of how they synchronize data between different windows and widgets.
Increasing memory allocation to TWS helps to an extent. Restarting TWS can also help.
Though I think they should add an option to limit the data streaming rate.

@guru same here guru. I restart my computer sometimes and TWS is relaxing for 20-30 mins. But after that, it's laggy again...

Peeps are you running on decent rigs? When was the last time you reinstalled? What version are you running?

TWS runs good for me. Other than an occasional lag in retrieving data, it's quick and responsive.

I have Intel7 3.3Ghz with 64GB RAM, 10GB RAM assigned just to TWS. Also other desktops and laptops where I have the same problems.
Though I have hundreds of multi-leg option positions (1000+ individual legs), and it seems that TWS tries to stream quotes and update all of them at the same time, including syncing data between various tabs & windows/dialogs, possibly even those not shown on the screen. It also seems to cache stuff in memory but takes too much of it. Etc.

Actually it did get faster after market closed, so the issue may be with real-time data streaming during market hours. Though often gets slow later after hours as well.
While I wouldn't mind some delay, or data refresh every few seconds.

  7. The should use youporn servers. No issues even during the lockdown period!

not sure if anyone else has noticed this but all symbols beginning with the letter "S" are slow during reg market hours. At least that is the way it is with me. It might be related to all the SPY orders/market movement.

I inquired about this weeks ago and IB has acknowledged the issue but it remains for me.

    Anyone else seeing this?

to clarify: data is slow for these "S" symbols and even order entry is slow for certain types of orders for these symbols.

Hi guys, i've talked with IBKR. They checked my logs and said there is no problem from their servers. They mean, i need to contact my internet provider. But i don't think so. Even on phone's internet, there are the same problems. How can i prove it that my internet is healthy?
